Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

United KingdomBit of a crossed wires situation with key code (out of hours) and we couldn't get in on arrival but rang the buzzer a couple of times and a guy came out with our key card
Everything! We hadn't realised it was a shared bathroom situation (our daughter booked it for us) but we needn't have worried as we didn't have to wait once - there're plenty and boy oh boy are they immaculate!

FranceFor the standards of the rooms, I would have expected a hairdryer (in the rooms or even in the bathroom) and a small hook to hang out the hand towel in the room, since there is a sink in the room. The shared Toilet and shower are together, they are not separated. It hasn't been a big issue, just got to wait a few times. It is details, not a big deal !
Staff super nice, friendly and helpful. Information perfect for late check-in. Got some neighbour a bit nosy late on the 1st night but didn't happen again (thank you to the staff). Rooms, confortable and spacious. Bed, maybe not super big if you are two but way enough by yourself. Perfect to explore Bondi's area, not a noisy street but close by most of the restaurant/bar/café by walking distance. Very cool minibar offer and good wifi.

Super lovely place, everything is just as pretty as on the pictures. Quiet location close to public transport. Helpful and friendly receptionist (thanks especially to Louisa for showing me around the place before I decided to book). I was a little worried about sharing a bathroom with strangers but that worked really well, as the bathrooms were always spotlessly clean.

AustraliaLack of parking, always challenging to park on the residential street when arriving at night, risk of getting a fine; I didn't receive the code to the front door and key safe before arrival and had to ring the after-hours emergency button for access.
Fresh, light, linen & towels, and the shared bathroom was neat and clean; decor & style; self-check-in after hours; not immediately at but near beaches, cafes etc.

Great facilities and access to all necessary things for a stay. (Got to travel a bit for breakfast though). Received great help at a very late hour when I locked myself out. Beautiful house, rooms and bathrooms.

AustraliaIf you are very tall, feet may hit off the wall whilst in bed due to the orientation of the bed (this was not the case in all rooms). Funny musty smell in the room, not in other areas of the hotel.
Modern, well decorated. Sinks in room are ideal for washing face/brushing teeth without using communal bathrooms. Communal bathrooms very clean. Beds are comfortable. Great location near public transport. Staff very friendly and helpful.
