Showers are rather rustic, no room to put these clothes in the shower cubicles… Too bad that kitchen closes at 9 p.m. It's a bit early...

Very warm welcome and the staff took the time to explain to us the operation and rules of the hostel. A beautiful location in the middle of nature full of wild animals!

It's quite far from everything and not near mission beach at all. Walked to the nearest beach but it took about 30mins in the heat and you can't swim there. Food was good but you have no choice as there's no where nearby to eat or shop and it was a little expensive. Not enough plugs in the room for everyone to charge their phones

Really nice amongst nature, saw loads of wildlife there and it's very peaceful. Had food there and it was delicious, staff were nice. Bedrooms were a little cold but comfy. Good shuttle service to and from the greyhound but there is a charge

I didn’t stay longer.

Staying here is like finding a hidden gem. Rob and his team should be so proud of what they have created. Rob takes time to welcome all guests with helpful information. It’s a beautiful retreat with many chill out areas. I love the music and ambience here. Comfy beds, lovely size pool / laundry are an added bonus. You will see young wallabies in the gardens. Really lovely cafe too with a licences bar. Frequent shuttle bus available to all. Thank you… Best hostel to date.

There are Wallabys in the backyard and the staff is really friendly. The hostel is in the middle of a beautiful rainforest. We enjoyed our stay a lot

Its a bit far from shops, restaurants, beach. They do have a paid shuttle service but it limits you in your freedom to get around.

It is surrounded by jungle which is very beautiful! The beds were comfortable and the common area is nice and spacious. It’s very clean as well.

In a stunning and quiet location. Has a fabulous cafe. Family room was big and comfortable. Nice atmosphere. A bonus was the friendly baby wallabies and a cassowary wandering the grounds. Pool, hammocks, large communal area and kitchen.

We enjoyed our stay here, the location is a little out of the way but there were regular shuttles into the town and all the drivers were super helpful! The rooms were clean, the surrounding grounds were lovely, the staff were very friendly and the kitchen had everything you needed. I’d stay here again and recommend it to friends

Beautiful location in the middle of the rainforest! Lovely pool area and that gets lots of sun. The bar/cafe area is done up nicely with a big terrace to sit out on and nice fresh food. I had a private double room which was really comfy, and the bathroom facilities were always clean and spacious. Not to mention the wildlife! Tame wallabies about AND cassowary’s. The staff work really hard and were always on hand - I even booked another night here. Lots of travellers come through here so it was easy to make friends. But it’s also a quiet and peaceful and didn’t ever feel like a party hostel. Mission beach is a cool place with some cooky bars and restaurants but you barely need to leave Jackaroo if you don’t want need to! A great base for travelling or a place to unwind.

There are limited power sockets in the rooms, with only four in a 6 bed dormitory; all of which are away from the beds. Unfortunately there is no furniture around the pool making the area uncomfortable, which was a shame. Communal areas were spacious, but general furnishing and decor was tired and due an upgrade. There was a mouse problem in the kitchen that didn’t seem to be resolved during my stay, with traps in place but without total success. Food left on the designated shelves were gnawed into by rodents which meant the affected goods needed to be disposed of and the remainder stored in the fridge. This was not a pleasant experience as a guest, especially in a food-preparation area.

A tranquil escape with a relaxing and laidback vibe. Good value for money and the staff are very helpful and sociable with guests. There are beautiful hand painted murals around the hostel which add a homely feel. Whilst the location is remote and the nearest supermarket is over an hours walk, there is a convenient local shuttle that can be arranged on-demand for a fair rate, or bicycles can be hired directly from the hostel (AUD30 per day during my visit).

Location is a bit out of the way. Be prepared to walk a lot. In both my room and the kitchen, there was a bit of a smell. Some stains on the bedsheets and the walls. A nightstand and lamp next to the bed would be nice.

Quite special. Friendly team. Good coffee in the café. Nice balcony and view. Rock wallaby in the garden.
