There was renovations being done whilst i was there which meant the main areas of the hostel were a little messier than usual, but the improvements will be worth it and make this an even better place to stay!

Such a great hostel to stay at when your in Sydney. The people I met there were amazing including the staff - all very welcoming and helpful! The location is great as well being right next to the train station and a short walk to the cbd. The hostel was constantly being cleaned and the beds were really comfy also. Would absolutely recommend this hostel for anyone comimg to Sydney and wanting to make new friends!

Shame that only have 3 washes and dryers.

The staff were incredibly helpful with any requests. The rooms seem relatively modern. The kitchen is clean and comfortable to cook in.

Kitchen were really disgusting, lots of trash and messy all the time, it was cleaned everyday by staff member but there was no rules, people were playing cards and drinking games all nights in the kitchen. I wasn’t able to eat or sit most of the time. There was no space on the freezer either.

The rooms could have had more storage in them and could have had more bathrooms for the number of people staying here.

The hostel was really clean and had a great vibe. Met some really cool people at the various events put on by the staff every night. Will definitely be coming back whenever I’m in Sydney!

Kitchen is very small, so easily gets saturated. Also only one toilet per floor.

Very well located. Free gym pass everyday included with your stay. Easy to meet people as hostel is small.

Overall not a bad stay but the staff were horrible. Most of them didn’t really want to work and some were also rude. There was this particular short blonde girl with glasses who doesn’t know what she’s doing. I asked her to extend my stay and she simply answered ‘we don’t have anymore rooms’ almost without even checking. A friend that I was traveling with happened to ask again another staff and he happily checked us in for another week. Additionally, this particular girl spoke rudely to us on several occasions. I also noticed the staff have particular preferences with certain people which is very unprofessional as everyone should be treated equally. Some were allowed to check out late because they were friends with the staff but if others come few minutes after check out time they will take action. Maybe there needs to be a re-evaluation of the staff to create a better experience for the guests!

The hostel has a really lovely social atmosphere, all the staff are super lovely. They had an activity every night and free dinner on Tuesdays. Room/bathroom was clean and tidy with lockers. Kitchen is well equipped!

The place doesn't has open rooms like living rooms to stay comfortable if you want do something in your computer. And people don't have much education to use the toilet. Small kitchen.

I spent a very good in mad monkey king cross. All people are very friendly, the staff is very welcoming. The hostel organised a lot of activities and it’s very good vibes. The room is clean and the bed are comfortable. You will enjoy your stay here !

it was very nice staying at this hostel. i just started traveling and didnt know what to expect from the hostel life, but mad monkey didn't dissapoint. The rooms were clean and the staff was very friendly and helpfull. I lost the keys of my locker and one of the girls from the staff helped me find them. they also organise a lot of fun events, where i met a lot of great people. during one of the night of my stay the ovens didnt work, that was a bit annoying, but they arranged free pizza and the next day new ovens arrived. so that was fine. overall a good experience.

Our room's shower didn't have a curtain or a door (which it obviously had at some point). It was open, so water got all over the place when you showered.

I really liked the location (it was in the middle of an active neighborhood, lots of day and night life) and the cleanliness of the place. There were a few places to lay down and chill, and a vending machine (both great after a night out). The staff were nice, and most of the time you could find someone at the front desk.

Noise from the renovation. Stinky smell from the room. There's no lift for the luggage so not a great place for those who bring their suitcases

Loved the kitchen area. They even have oven, utensils, and spices. Air conditioner worked and the water dispenser was perfect itself.
