United StatesThere was nothing we disliked, but it's not going to be for everybody. Don't ruin it by going there expecting/demanding to have loud phone conversations in the dining room, dressed in yoga pants or cargo shorts,, sipping a soy latte, nibbling gluten-free vegan-buttered toast, your labradoodle by side, your children running wild. It's not that sort of place.
We loved this place! Everything about it: the spectacular mountain setting, the highly professional yet courteous and friendly staff, the antique architecture and furnishings, the delicious and varied menu. So comfortable and relaxing, perhaps the best, most distinct hotel experience we've ever had. Like time travel to the best moments of a more gracious past.

SwedenA warm welcome from hotel owner, offering shuttle from train station to hotel late in the evening due to delayed flights. The breakfast was great, and you will feel at home already the first day. You pre-book your breakfast the day before, and it will be served when you arrive between 8-10am. This gives a more personal feeling, along with reduction of food waste.

We received recommendations for a scenic nearby hike and the hotel offers a discount for the thermal spa in the center, which was super nice! We also were picked up directly from the train station. Additionally, the room was comfortable and clean, and the whole hotel gets you into a classy, antique feeling! It made our trip :)

Villa Excelsior is an elegant, historic villa with a great view over the Gastein Valley. Staff are dedicated professionals, starting with Herr Christof and Frau Erharter, wellcoming and smiling hosts. Chef Johanna is a master of the kitchen. It's like they have a mission: your comfort and welfare. We took massage and sauna at the villa, but you can also have your Felsentherme tickets with 25% discount at the Reception Desk. We had a wonderful time!

Breakfast and dinner were delicious, the room was quiet with a great view over the valley. Nearby Kaiser Wilhelm promenade with cafees and art galleries. We even got an early breakfast and tranportation to trainstation before 08 a.m.
