Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

GermanyWe only stayed one night after finishing stage two (Holzgau - Venet Gipfelhütte) of our E5 hike. The room was spacious. Dinner and breakfast were in buffet form, both were plentiful, but the quality was less than expected. The staff is very friendly and service oriented.

NetherlandsThere’s no kitchen or fridge to store your lunch, no coffee/tea facilities outside of the restaurant, also nowhere to hang out on a rainy day (no common area with lounge chairs or something like that). There’s a rooftop terrace but it’s not much use when it’s raining…
Very clean place, good breakfast selection, dinner was nothing special but it’s really nice not having to worry about meals when you’re hiking. The location is why you’d book this place. The views on pretty much every side are stunning. Also easy to travel to with public transport.

The views are stunning, enjoyed every second of it! The room had everything needed and of a very good quality. The location is perfect ether to enjoy yourself doing nothing and watch beautiful sunsets/sunrises or to go on a hike, for which the Hütte is perfectly located. Looking forward to coming back!

CanadaDo not ever do your laundry here. We were told laundry costs €2 and given soap. So we put in €2 and soap, after which our stuff was locked inside the machine. Thereafter the reception was closed. A woman from the kitchen did help us eventually but her communication was not particularly sympathetic. We were very clearly a bother and repeatedly shushed when told she needs to get someone up there to deal with this. Turns out one needs a special coin to wash. No-one told us. The woman who was working outside of her hours (no reception) was watching Youtube videos on how to unlock the thing. We were on a trans alpine hike so clothes locked in a machine was super stressful for us. Luckily she got the stuff out later in the evening. We got them back dirty & dry which was best case scenario at this point. I would never use the machine even with the right coin. They seem to be aware of the issue of it locking but even following their instructions of what to do if it locks did not work. You must replace the machine or not offer this service. I know you may say this happened only to us and you did fix it but I am sure we are not the first. Don’t use it and don’t expect polite service at all. All to say there is not really a service team. If you need anything after check in you are out of luck. Aside from location would avoid this place.
Location was good. The reception gave us a family room, which was great. Food was ok.

AustriaTo get there, you have to take the cable car. Maybe you could hike up there in half a day, but the message they sent me said I MUST take the cable car. Despite the cable car and the hotel being one company, I had to pay full fare (20€). Including this mandatory fare, the one night total for a dorm bed was 105€. If you plan on doing something up there maybe that's worth it to you, but for just a (dorm) bed and some food - I've gotten much better deals elswhere. The "Reception" is at the top exit of the cable car and closes after the 16:30 service arrives.
The room is nice with wooden beds, the bathroom was small but adequate (except that hand soap was empty) the dinner and breakfast was plenty and tasty. I lucked out and had a 7-bed dorm room all to myself. And It's hard to beat that view.
