Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThe only negative I have which isn't the hotels responsibility is the constant flow of traffic and large groups of motorcyclists going up and down the road, night and day.
This is a beautiful building full of character. The rooms are a good size and everything was clean. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. Breakfast and dinner were delicious and I especially liked the courtyard. The hotel's beach area was restful and fun..

AustriaNothing, just note that if you requested a late checkout, it will not be free (which is completely understandable of course).
This place is magical, with its cozy yet classy feel and its beautiful access to the lake. The staff were extremely friendly and accommodating (not only at the reception but also at breakfast, what a great attitude they all had) , the room was clean and orderly, the buildings looked exceptionally well kept.

United StatesWith a slim budget one would miss one of the best accommodations around, since it is somewhat pricey, though again, worth it if you have it. Hard to really come up with another negative with this place.
The waiters, staff and owners were nothing less than perfect! The room was clean, well furnished, comfortable and worth the price. The food was wonderful for breakfast and dinner, with enjoyable waiters

ItalyNo extra blankets or pillows in the room, as the pillows were very flat. They once forgot to refill our toiletries, but were very apologetic after. It is also the only Tesla Destination Charger that I had to pay for...
Premises are absolutely beautiful and very well maintained. Hotel is really clean throughout, with helpful staff always ready to assist you (in English) as best they can. Restaurant menu is top notch, and we were lucky to get a traditional Austrian menu on the Monday, and lush BBQ grill on Thursday. Breakfast is elegant, even if lacking in sweet options (cakes/croissants/cookies).

Leonstain is such a lovely hotel, full of character, beautiful grounds, fabulous beach club. Was lovely to be „welcomed back“ by the reception team, some hotels don’t seem to recognise returning Booking.com guests… Room was probably bigger than what we had booked.

Germany1. The room, while large and nice, was located next to the road which meant road noise throughout the night. Not an issue if you close the windows but in the heat, that makes sleeping not so comfortable (with no air conditioning) 2. Breakfast was ok. The omelette made to order was quite nice, a good selection, but for a 4 star hotel I would expect fresh bakery products, and not the processed packaged items you buy in the supermarket (like those offered croissants were dry and tasteless). 3. The beach club associated with the hotel, most of the staff there were nice, friendly and helpful, except for one person there who couldn’t have been more annoyed at us by our request to set up a sun bed and our question about non-alcoholic cocktails (I’m pregnant) to which the answer was just a no. Just FYI, they do have cocktails. and the friendly staff were happy to make a non alcoholic cocktail afterwards
Location was nice, close to the lake and different restaurants. Staff at the hotel were nice, friendly and helpful.

AustriaThe rooms were unfortunately not very clean with a thick dust layer on the phone next to the bed and hair of previous guests on the chair in the bathroom. I understand that the hotel and the furniture are quite old but I think it can still be expected that the facilities are thoroughly cleaned. The hotel is also located next to the train tracks, which was quite disturbing while sleeping, unfortunately. We also had a very unpleasant encounter with the owner or lessee of the castle when we had concerns about our stay. The way he addressed those concerns and the way he talked to us clouded our entire stay, unfortunately.
The hotel itself is very beautiful as it is located in an old castle with a beautiful courtyard and wonderful hotel beach. I also want to highlight that most of the staff was very nice, especially Ms Daria who was absolutely lovely and the nice and accommodating man who works on the hotel beach (Leon beach) but whose name we unfortunately didn't get to know.

IsraelThis is definitely not a 4 star hotel. It's not even 2. The property is very badly maintained. It is very overpriced,350 euro per night is unbelievable . Everything is very old, like taken from garbage, smells very bad. Pillows look and feel like they were used without cleaning for years. When we arrived it was +34 degrees outside and there was NO air-conditioning, they just didn't have them. Very noisy ,as far as it's between main road and railway. We were very, very disappointed,we had to move immediately to another hotel. And they charge us 700 euro anyway. Avoid this place.
Nothing except that it's an old castle
