Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

IsraelIt is not possible to have a kettle/coffee machine in the room, but the the coffee is free in lobby, and hotel staff provides hot water to the room when asked. In our room the toilet didn't provide too much privacy, don't know how it is in others...
The location is awesome. The staff is very responsive. We arrived much earlier then usual check in time and got early check in for free. Good wine is a welcome drink.

United StatesThe pillows. Kind of like little sand bags. We managed though.
The hotel room was fabulous. I loved the mix of new modern with the old feeling of the city. The breakfasts are fantastic. Overall, my favorite hotel stay as I was in Vienna, Salzburg, Grindelwald, Munich, Heidelberg & Frankfurt for the trip.

United KingdomNothing.
Hotel staff were really welcoming. We arrived 4 hours early on a very wet day and they allowed us to leave our bags and gave us coffee. They rang to book restaurants for us. Nothing was too much trouble. Location is good, near to u-bahn and buses. There is a supermarket almost next door, a shopping street and restaurants in the area eg Steman and Thanos. The breakfast was excellent and served by wonderful staff. We loved our stay here.

United KingdomThe room facilities were poor, not a separate bathroom but a curtain partitioning off a portion of the room. Only one chair for two people and not enough storage space, no wardrobe only a rack attached to the wall.
Staff were absolutely excellent, we can't praise them enough. The location within 100 yes of a tube station was superb. The breakfasts were very good. The bed was comfortable. The hotel itself is unique and full of charm and character it takes you right back to the 1920's.

Irelandcoffee cups tiny and you were charged extra if you had more than two hot drinks. Coffee facilities would have been nice in the rooms and invest in bigger cups.

AustraliaIf I had to fault anything it would be that the room didn’t really have anywhere to put luggage. It was quite small, but we also booked a small room.
This was the cutest hotel. The decor and rooms were so perfectly styled. The bed was super comfortable and the linen was very nice. We also loved the on site bar - not cheap, but the bartender is excellent. The breakfast was wonderful, easily one of the best we had, but by far the breakfast staff made the stay. I wish I had got the name of the lady who served us.

IrelandNo complaints.
Oh this is a little Viennese gem! The entrance to the hotel tells it all - the owners have gone to an infinite amount of trouble to fit the decor and ambience into a 1920s-30s stylish experience. All the staff are friendly and helpful. The lush dark red interiors and fringes give a decadent and old world feel to the rooms - can you find your 'very secret passage'?? - while a small book will give the back story of the mythical Josefine and the mysterious happenings, surreal and sometimes magical, set the scene and the tone for your stay. There is an honesty bar with hundreds of vinyl albums, any of which you can play on the record player there. Breakfast is excellent and at night the room's lights are dimmed and it is transformed into 'Barfly', a cocktail bar with a speakeasy vibe which attracts people from all over the locality (reserve a table!). A neon sign inside the small smoking area tells you that 'nothing is impossible'! Dream the dream! We will be back next time we're in Vienna.

United KingdomSo, for the price the room felt very small and cramped. We are on the top floor and the window was also very high in the room - couldn’t see out of it. It let light into the room but their really was no view out - even of a wall - to speak of. There was really very little space to move around. The ‘bathroom’ is part of the room so there is a toilet and shower side by side with a sliding door and then a curtain to separate that area from the bedroom. Privacy wise not great so hopefully you know your travelling partner well. Again - but cheap at this price. The shower is lovely and hot but the water fills the shower quickly and in our room did not drain away very quickly so ended up paddling in the water then having to switch off for fear of the water spilling out into the bedroom! Next - why no tea and coffee in the room?? I know it’s been mentioned elsewhere but after a weary travel around Vienna I like a hot drink before bed. I should not have to ask for something that should really be standard, especially at this price. We asked for the hotel to book a table at barflys and received a reply that had been done. When we arrived at the bar (opposite the reception) they said they had no booking for us. Didn’t matter as we were both too tired but not really great on our first night. We also tried to book barflys online but again when we arrived there was no booking so possibly a barfly problem rather than hotel. Note: if you want to book a table at barflys you probably should telephone. You can just walk in and sit at the bar if they have space and on Sunday it was really quiet anyway so no need to book. Oh, and there was a mark on the linen on the bed - looked like ink? I didn’t complain, the sheets were clean but still, not what you expect from a hotel at this price.
Location was excellent. Short walk to underground then pretty much anywhere accessible from there. The staff were very helpful. Special mention to the wonderful lady who welcomed us and served us breakfast in the morning (sorry don’t know her name but she was always smiling and helpful). Also the porter who took our luggage to our rooms - who smiled at us and said hello when he spotted us on the underground. The breakfast was amazing. It looked underwhelming on the menu but it’s undersold. All you can eat, brought to your table by the wonderful staff. Try the pancakes! The bed was super comfortable and I’m really fussy when it comes to beds. The bar underneath is a nice way to end the night (barflys) but be careful how you book - more on that in the negatives. The hotel itself is quaint and I liked the style although it may not be to everyone’s taste as it’s quite dark inside. Felt a bit ‘gothic’. But it is also kept cool that way and was welcome in the heatwave. The room had air conditioning which was also really good! The area feels very safe and we walked and travelled a long way around Vienna from this base. We arrived early and the welcome was good we were early for check in but able to leave our luggage while we went out for a bit. We did not try the ‘honesty bar’ but while we were there some people were sat listening to records which seemed nice - we were too tired! The hotel left a bottle of red wine in the room for our welcome which was free. It was nice. This was a good base to travel from and we enjoyed our stay.
