Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.

We were really happy with our stay, the bed was big and comfortable, good quiet location with on street parking and walkable distance into the main area of town. Staff were friendly and although we didn’t eat breakfast it looked good from afar. We also enjoyed the bath!

BrazilThe ad says it has parking. However, there is just one parking space. As it was taken, I had to park in the street, in front of the hotel. The place seemed safe, so I did not worry much about the car. But I guess this information should be clearer in the ad.
The room was big and very comfortable. Everything seemed new and clean. It was also very quiet. The bathroom was very good too. The bed was really big and comfortable. Breakfast was tasty and had a variety of cakes and sweets.

Breakfast during COVID-19 pandemic was a challenge and they provided everything wrapped up in plastic. There was shifts for having breakfast. The room was always spotless!!

There were 3 private parking spots and it’s first come first serve, also different than the description on booking.com. Breakfast very average with stale pastries. CanadaThe hotel room was ok. There’s no sitting space, however. I don’t think they vacuum the carpets, but rather brush them. The common sitting room downstairs was fine, but the seating was uncomfortable. The breakfast was serviceable; we were there 4 nights and there was no variety in breakfast (not a boiled egg, or any form of fruit or vegetable was on offer). An espresso machine taunts the traveller - but it’s supposedly broken. The staff are friendly enough for someone who doesn’t speak Spanish.

The location of Monte Verde is good, within walking distance of downtown and many restaurants.

United StatesFirst, the person working the front counter was literally *always* with a customer, which meant anytime I was trying to solve a problem (and there were several on this occasion), I was waiting. Since they were obviously quite busy, seems to me they could afford a second person to help out with customer service. Now, I was without power on several occasions. I assume this was due to rolling blackouts in the area and was of no fault of the hosteria. However, I was without water 100% of my stay with them. I had to shower using the public shower room that fortunately they had. (I was absolutely filthy from a long day of dirt biking.) Not to mention, you get 1-2 toilet flushes when you are without water, which becomes kind of disgusting after a while. Aside from the fact I no water (and most of the rooms, and I understood it did - was there really not a room they could have moved me into?), they charged me full price, even after I explained to them during checkout that I was totally without water during my stay, and was relying totally on the public facilities. I am giving them a 5 instead of a lower rating because I lacked the energy to complain in the moment, and thereby failed to express my dissatisfaction. But in my opinion, they should have comped the room, or at least marked it down significantly.
The hosteria permitted me to keep bags with them when I arrived super early and was waiting for my room to be opened up. The breakfast was passable.

United StatesThe staff could use some work on their customer relations. The person who checked us in was very unfriendly and the rest (except one) were indifferent at best. Our beds were made after our first night stay but the bathroom was not cleaned. Also there was water outage in our room for a few hours but that was probably just an accident.
It’s well located in the town and the surrounding area is quiet. The room was basic but had all the required/advertised amenities.
