Absolutely fantastic location. Walking distance to all attractions. The staff is so welcoming and helpful. I got a free room upgrade, which was a very thoughtful touch. The room was way better than I expected. Everything was just perfect!!

Some of the staff do act quite pretentious and I have had issues with billing discrepancies when staying here. It's happened the previous two times I stayed. Most recently, I was informed upon checkout that "my card was declined" for the stay when it had already been paid, including the deposit. I was asked to pay for the room a second time. Rather embarrassing in front of a lobby full of people. The staff member eventually disappeared behind a door while my friend and I sat to have lunch in the restaurant before leaving. When they reappeared, they said it was a mistake, and that I should only pay the mini bar charges of £44 - which made sense according to what we had had. Paid. Paid for lunch, left... My deposit was never returned but I noticed the amount was adjusted so I phoned to ask what had happened. The less than friendly and less than helpful man I was speaking with then informed me that there was a "human error" in calculating the mini bar items... how convenient that this "error" happens when I am out of the building and had already settled the bill and everything had allegedly being checked. The hotel itself is not excessively expensive, it's very nice inside and details are well thought out.. but unfortunately, while it doesn't seem to be the case with restaurant staff, some of the hotel staff create an environment that is less than welcoming and the "human errors" when it comes to billing will probably deter me from returning soon, which is a shame as it is a nice hotel. For something in a similar price point, i'd rather stay at The Standard or any other hotel that actually makes me feel welcome. I am not even the type to really review places if i'm being honest but the whole experience left quite a sour taste in my mouth.
