Lovely place - food was exceptional & staff friendly & helpful. We chose it as a base for a few days while we were on the Island to be able to clear out my late aunt's flat - it was a 5 minute drive away. Our room had a spa bath, which was a lovely extra as we were aching at the end of each day after clearing the flat

Beds were too soft for my liking - I like my mattresses firm. The cups weren't cleared away from our room & the water wasn't replaced, but it was very quickly resolved by the Manager (Rob) who was fantastic.

breakfast was a bag of 4 pastries that ran out on the first day of our 2 day stay (so not supplied for 2 days) and already opened and used butter and jam kept in the fridge which we did not want to use. Also not sure if the orange juice had been opened as the lid was loose so didn't drink this.

very very noisy - on the Stanstead flight path - woken in early morning and kept awake long into the night, so so so loud planes, very low flying at times too.

Stayed a few times and always have an enjoyable stay. Good selection of beers and great food. Some minor changes since our last visit due to change of ownership, not all for the better.

Just a short taxi ride from the Edinburgh airport. Very convenient for morning flights. Near tram for tourist travel into Edinburgh.

So after seeing your instagram photos etc of your beautiful decor in the rooms and hotel. I knew instantly this was up my street for my 30th birthday get away overnight stay. I do interior design and have a large following on social media. After checking in online and stating we would be arriving for 12 etc, We arrived Thursday about 1pm to be told check in was 3pm. I explained I put online it was my birthday and we would be here earlier (no mention of check in times). The young girl was so rude and dismissive I was so shocked. She was so slow at checking us in generally felt she was dragging her heals with everything whilst the lady to the left was so upbeat and friendly to her customer. After abit of conversation she got confirmation the room was ready. Well we was genuinely out the back down coridors and down some more corridors, passed rooms being refurbished with workmen and then to our room. The creaking floor boards, the thick dust on the dressing table, wrapped wallpaper, soaking bathroom floor, soaking bath, solid hard beds, cold atmosphere, dust filled lamps were far from what we seen online. Then a workman just walked right in while we were in the room. He apologised and stated he was just changing the shower head. I went downstairs nearly in tears to ask for the manager. The young girl again used her phone to text the manager in a back and forth conversation while I stood there. (Bare in mind my dad owns a couple hotels in which I've grown up in and can assure you how this girl was with me is not the customer service you should have promoting your hotel at the front). She then took her phone and shut the reception door and made a phone call leaving me in the lobby on my own. She came back and said he's on his way. The manager came down and I showed him photos and he agreed it's not acceptable and we shouldn't of been put in that room especially with works going on around it.
