Santa Maria town is beautiful with dream beaches and locations for eat and drink for 4€ by taxi / 5€ later at night. Fresh meat is exceptional tasty good by CV animals at Cazou supermarket. No factory farming at Cabo Verde.

A lovely place to stay, and was perfect for a single traveler. A good room overlooking the pool but always quiet. Restaurants were excellent and the food impressive. Very helpful staff and cheerful service. Lots of different places to go whether you like relaxing, being on a beach drinking in the shade, swimming, gym - it was all there. Very generous cocktails!

Boutique hotel, reasonably priced, locally run, on edge of Santa Maria but easy walk to town centre. Close to beach. Quiet and relaxed. Food in the evening excellent. Warm and friendly staff, very helpful. Room was large, simply furnished with local touches, very comfortable. Clean and pleasant. Pool never too busy. Overall, as a couple without children, so much nicer than being in a huge anonymous resort that sends profits overseas!
The apartment was spacious and well presented. Kitchen provided all necessary equipment, good air conditioning in lounge and main bedroom. Beds were comfortable. Easy walk to beach/grocery shopping. Sky News channel on TV. Good location for resort amenities - pools, bars and restaurants. Good communication with property manager.
Not being hemmed into a resort! Beach nearby - Hilton hotel across. Apartment spacious- pros and cons but lived with them… great way to stay cheaply in Cape Verde.
Very spacious comfortable apartment with lovely terrace at the Melìa Tartuga resort right on a gorgeous beach • Music each evening and a spa and 3 pools (open till 6pm). Near other hotels for good food choices and entertainment if you don’t want to run into nearby town.
Nice large room on the edge of town away from large resorts. Great ceiling fan (no AC) which had a consistent white noise that blocked out all noise, for a quiet great night of sleep. Well planned room with plenty of practically placed shelves and hooks to put items. The 20 euro airport pickup for our 1am checkin went smoothly. 5min walk from a small grocery and the water where you can see a great sunset. Great communication with host on WhatsApp.
I am so glad I trusted my instinct with this one and the great reviews I read about Casa Pau. Being at the heart of the community and away from the resorts was the best decision. Wonderful hosts, Rui and Berta are just brilliant, an excellent room and I felt as if I was at home from the moment I got there and could relax in the communal areas freely and peacefully. I look forward to visiting again one day and already miss the place.
This is a very good place to stay on Sal. If you want to live in the town or don't want to do the all inclusive resorts. The quality of the accommodation and the helpfulness of the staff are both outstanding, Staff were very helpful and booked taxi transports and day trips efficiently without drama. The room was large, airy and bright, it had a kettle, toasty machine, fridge, a safe and netflix on a large screen tv. shower was large and there was loads of hot water at all times.
Great communication with the host and was given lots of information regarding the resort and area. Beautiful grounds and well maintained. Great place to stay if you are All inclusive with lots for families to do. The apartment had everything you needed and staff were very helpful.
BCV Private Apartments on Tortuga Beach Resort: our apartment was lovely, spacious, airy, nice balcony with a slim view of the pool. It was a lovely place to relax, the resort pools and facilities were lovely, as was the location with the beach and just a short shuttle bus ride or 4 Euro Taxi ride to Santa Maria. All staff were super friendly and helpful.
