Bor Saen
Situated in Bor Saen, Calm at Bangphat has a garden, shared lounge, terrace, and free WiFi. Boasting room service, this property also provides guests with a barbecue. Free private parking is available and the resort also features bike hire for guests who want to explore the surrounding area.
At the beginning the location may seem a lil bit off the beaten path and difficult to move around for the backpackers, but give it a try and you will be rewarded with amazing and relaxing time. The lake view cottage was clean and very comfortable. The owner Mr Bang is great - he borrowed us his fishing rod, checked the bus timing, brought some fruits etc. Soak up into this tiny village as the community there is lovely and they are the nicest and most genuine people we met in Thailand. They will share with you the 1000 smiles, make sure you go right direction or just give you the ride, give some shrimps for your fishing bait, proudly show their daily crab catch if they spot you in the kayak. Do not miss the neighbor pancakes restaurant (ca 1km walking), fisherman village and kayaking in mangrove forest. There were not so many mosquitos as people say. Just keep your door closed when the light is on and you will be really fine ;)
Phangnga (Near Bor Saen)
During their stay, guests can enjoy freshwater fishing for an additional fee. Activities in Phang Nga include excursions to local temples, Katathong Golf Course, canoeing around Phang Nga Bay and a visit to the famous James Bond Island.
Mike’s place is a wonderful secluded fishing paradise. Not really being a fisherman, I chose it to explore the region with a car. From there it’s easy to do day trips around the whole area, including west coast, Krabi, Phang Nga Bay, Khao Sok, etc. Sure I tried fishing and we got a huge relic fish whose origins are traced back over 100 million years ago. The property itself is well maintained which is rare in Thailand. Mike the owner is very positive and welcoming. He puts a lot of heart and efforts into the place and one can feel it when staying there. Hope to be back one day.
