Everything in Livingstone is around Victoria falls. I would advise to see the fall from both sides. On Zambian side you kan swim in Devil poll - just one meter from the Victoria falls. From Zimbabwe you can see the whole fall. Also rafting- you will be satisfied 100%.
There is much to see and do around Livingstone so worth a visit. Pricing on activities is a little exaggerated though. In Livingstone I highly recommend Olga's for great food and the Waterfront is a great place for drinks/dinner, great view and general great atmosphere.
Beautiful weather, friendly people. Easy to get around. Nature safaris, amazing views of Victoria Falls, adventure activities - Livingstone has something for everyone and every price range.
I served as a US Military Advisor to Zambia from 2002-2005. In 36 months, I visited Victoria Falls 33 times. There is no bad time to see the Victoria Falls; they are gorgeous and breath taking each and every time! Zambia is a beautiful country and Zambians are vibrant, friendly people! Both Zambia and Victoria Falls are worth the challenges of travel, usually 29 hours or more from Washington DC or Atlanta, Georgia but well worth the time and effort! Victoria Falls is spectacular!! Definitely heads above Niagara Falls and on par with Iguasu Falls, Brazil! Victoria Falls offers World Class hiking, rafting and even bungee jumping!! Bungee jumping is safe and has been going on for decades! Victoria Falls should be at the top of anybody's bucket list! Victoria Falls has wonderful hotels and safari camps with World Class cuisine!! Numerous animal parks, the Mukuni Village, the Railroad museum, the Livingstone museum and a visit to Botswana an hour away will keep you and your kids busy. A once in a lifetime country and visit!!
I enjoyed Victoria Falls and shopping at the downtown market for locally made gifts. I felt completely comfortable as a woman by myself. I enjoyed a walk through the local wildlife sanctuary with guides and a sharp shooter. I wish I had alotted time/money to go on a safari in one of the surrounding countries - they are quite expensive however and do require multiple entries to Zambia on your passport; it is a full day trip as well. Entirely worth it from the pictures I have seen. You will not see lions in Livingstone. I did see rhinos, zebra, impala, wild boar, wilda beast, giraffe, monkeys, rhinos, crocs, and many beautiful birds.
Livingstone is a typical small African town, nothing really of interest except for the Victoria Falls. All tourist attractions are expensive to enter or participate in. Zambia in general is expensive to fly internally and eveyone tries to rip you off.
The Victoria falls visit was the highlight of our trip!! Absolutely amazing and lovely... used LIVINGSTONE ADVENTURES for all our activities and they were fantastic!!! On time and efficient.. treated us like VIP. Our driver/tour guide was Fred and our booking manager was Nunu 💕
Livingstone offers a great range of activities for the adventurous traveler. It absolutely can keep one occupied for a few days depending on how many of these activities you want to try out (helicopter view of the falls, Devil's Pool, rhino walks, game drives, rafting, bungee jumping, and more). The town itself is fun enough but could mostly be done in a day. There are some good eateries on the main strip (mostly catering to tourists but some more authentic food can be found) as well as a nice craft market further up the main road. All in all, it's a fun place to stay, and it should be on any traveler's list to see at least once.
We were able to visit the falls and go on a safari in Botswana. Livingstone is not that exciting in and of itself. The falls are amazing and so was our trip to Chobe, Botswana. There are quite a lot of activities to do on the river and at the falls, but the town doesn't have much on offer apart from its proximity to the falls.
A nice cheerful friendly place and so exciting to see the Victoria Falls.... an unforgettable experience! The Victoria Falls are the highlight of Livingstone.
Livingstone
An ideally located property in the centre of Livingstone, offering a surprisingly quiet oasis behind the busy Main Street. Excellent value for money, with incredibly helpful staff and an on-site activity centre which offered access to everything you could possibly do from a Livingstone base. We stayed in a deluxe room, which was clean and comfortable, with a strong shower. It was too cold to use the pool, but the setting around it was lovely and it was kept clean regardless. Free pancakes at 3pm were also a hit!
Livingstone
Excellent location. Great bar and restaraunt overlooking the river. Good food, friendly staff and some fantastic trips which can be arranged via the hotel booking office. Highly recommend the microlight flight, steam train dinner and Elephant Cafe. We also did a super mini safari at the David Livingstone park and a sunset cruise. There are packages on offer for booking combination trips which can be cheaper than doing individual bookings. Oh and of course don’t forget a trip to the falls!
As a solo female traveller, I was at complete ease at the hotel. I felt safe, secure and very relaxed as the staff really gave me 5 star treatment. My return flight was a late afternoon flight and I was not feeling well. The staff insisted on a complimentary late check out until I was ready to go to the airport. Honestly have never received such hospitality and warmth at any other hotel. I got back feeling recharged and a longing to go back to beautiful Livingstone.
The location cannot be beat! We didn't even realize that the falls are essentially in the back yard of the property and that the hotel cost includes unlimited access in/out of the park. There were animals roaming around - monkeys, zebra, giraffe (!) - and we could just walk among them. With this hotel there is also access to the restaurants and amenities at the Royal Livingstone just next door. Honestly I wish we could have stayed for a week.
Livingstone
We fell in love with Ngoma Zanga, and especially the amazing staff. Caroline, Kennedy, Destiny and the others made sure we always had everything we needed. they go above and beyond to book activities abd organize pickup with drivers. The hotel was decorated in a traditional way which we loved, the room was big, beds were comfortable, pool beautiful and we felt very safe. This is now our home in Livingstone! Thanks everyone
The hotel is fairly new with all modern amenities. It is clean and the staff are wonderful. It is located close to the falls. The swimming pool is a salt water swimming pool which is lovely and maybe heated, well at least while I was there the water was at decent warm temperature. The pool and some of the rooms overlook the Zambezi river. All in all enjoyed my stay at Radisson Blu Mosi-oa-Tunya Livingstone Resort.
Livingstone
We couldn't be happier with our decision to stay at The David Livingstone Safari Lodge. Our experience was fantastic. Beautiful hotel right on the Zambezi river, and all the staff were super friendly and helpful. An extra nice touch to receive a personal card from the team to wish us well on our honeymoon!
Livingstone
Great place to stay in Livingstone. It may not be a 5 star hotel but sure feels like it. Great staff, clean, air conditioning, swimming pool, free breakfast, quiet, comfortable bed with mosquito netting, close to town surrounded by fruit trees and garden at a very affordable price.
Livingstone
Nice apartment in quiet neighborhood. Small pool to cool off. Better than camping in Livingstone area.
