The town and some of the facilities need updating, but for a historic ski town Dover has some awesome stuff to see. We'll see a big shift and renewal of the town over the next 5-10 years. A lot of buinsesses and shops are only staying open with the help of the ski areas nearby. Without the snow, the town offers great scenic hiking and exploration of the Green Mountains. Perfect place to connect with nature, no matter the season. You're going to want a car/truck/SUV with a good transmission and FOUR/ALL WHEEL DRIVE. I cannot stress the importance of this feature in the winter in Vermont. The snow is other worldly, and between the weather and the steep roads and elevation, it can make for some rather infuriating complications. The local bars and restaurants all have their own rustic flare and personality. The town boasts everything from pizza and beer, to upscale 5 star dining too. There are quiet saloons, upscale bars and clubs by the mountains, and even cheap dive bars in terms of nightlife. And, the there is always something going in at any one of them. West Dover is a great ski/snowboard/hiking/mountain biking destination! Make sure to go check out all the Green Mountains have to offer!
Woodstock is a quaint but elegant town with tons of eating and shopping options. It’s proximity to other Vermont tourist towns makes it an ideal spot without being too crowded. Don’t expect much cell reception up in that area, but most places have WiFi! We love Bentley’s for dinner and Mont Vert cafe for coffee, breakfast and lunch. It’s a short drive to Queechee and Killington with a killer pizza place, Ramunto’s, close by. Lots of different activities. Definitely something for everyone!
Piecasso is the absolute Best pizza in the country if not world!! Awesome board/ski shop Darkside w super cool staff and awesome Demo’s. Stowe has the absolute best riding/ skiing in Vermont. All you need for an Epic vacation is all within a very easily manageable area. Not much driving around at all. Loved that!!
It has changed. It use to have an old Vermont feeling but now, it is all polished resort. Vail's influence is noticeable especially when it comes to lift tickets. Made the mistake going President's weekend. I am a super senior and paid $121!
My son and I were in Burlington on a college visit to U of Vermont. The town was very walkable and picturesque. Everyone was friendly. It seems very outdoor oriented with water sports and skiing close by.
Mendom is conveniently located to Killington. There interesting side trips to take to the ski areas and other Vermont sights. Our purpose was skiing. Rutland has some very good restaurants.
My first trip to Vermont was wonderful. The hotel was very helpful and friendly. The check-in was good, and I was quite satisfied with the room. Next time I will request a lower level. The hotel had no elevator, the stair climbing with luggage and supplies to attend a wedding was... not fun! Lively area.
A great place to visit. Stay away from the hen of the wood restaurant very poorly ran food not so great. Hotel Vermont one of the best. Juniper rest. very good, staff exceptional. Will stay there again.
This was my first trip to Stowe and I'm already looking forward to coming back. I planned this trip purely on the fact that I wanted to hike and check out the beauty of Vermont. On my next trip I will plan on more hikes and make sure to allow enough time for some brewery tours.
The lake is beautiful with a nice bike walk trail. Lots of good restaurants. Only thing sad is all the young homeless people around Burlington and small Vermont towns.
Manchester
Manchester Vermont is a gem of a location, but traffic is a bit on the busy side throughout all hours on the local thoroughfare detracting a little from its quaintness. The hotel is nicely situated for access via walking to all town shopping and dining. Its exterior and facilities are nicely cared for. Coffee each day in main area is excellent. Beds are extremely comfortable. If you like dogs, this is a good place to review all the popular breeds who were vacationing there along with there owners.
The hotel location was nestled in between the mountains of Vermont. This was a perfect location since it provided an escape while also being not too far from the city of Rutland. The room was well-cared for and inviting. There was a babbling stream nearby which when I came out to the little terrace of my hotel room, was a great experience. The front desk people were very nice and hospitable. I am putting this place on the top of my list when I make future plans to ski at Killington.
The Coolidge is a one-of-kind, historic hotel, Not at all like a typical, modern chain hotel. So much history and interesting architecture inside the hotel. The staff is truly special. Andrew and everyone was so friendly and helpful and go out of their way to help you. I loved the extra space of the sitting room in our suite.Huge King Bed was quite comfortable, great showers, and lots of hot water. Don’t forget to ask to see the murals in the Vermont Room! An unforgettable visit!
Stowe
We had a beautiful room in the Trail House - actually more of an apartment, perfect for our stay with our 6 months old baby girl (she was sleeping in the bed room while we could relax in the living room). The common areas are super cozy and welcoming. The entire hotel is extremely well designed and decorated: contemporary but keeping the spirit of Vermont coziness. We really liked the breakfast: simple but delicious. And we could bring it up to the room.
The price was reasonable compared to inns or B&B in the Stowe, Barre, Burlington, Northfield ($900-$1000 per night) area but still quite expensive per night. $288 per night should be prime room accommodations, but I guess for this area, $288 is good. I understand Vermont goes out of its way to keep chain retail companies out to allow family businesses to thrive, but hotels might be one area to change this rule.
Our first time in Vermont coming from the Philadelphia area! Staff was so nice. Lodge itself was beautiful, clean and homey. Didn’t feel like a hotel at all. Someone was always manning the front desk so if you needed something it was easy. Don’t miss the lower level with a lounge area and 24 hour complimentary coffee on tap. Loved this place and will definitely be back.
Burlington
We visited during the 2024 Total Eclipse. Hotel rooms in Vermont were unattainable, and the hotel was full. The staff had difficulties keeping up with the sheer volume of guests trying to check in, but they were pleasant. The staff worked hard and found us a room for a 2nd day. We watched the eclipse from a grassy area on the hotel grounds with 40 to 50 other guests.
Killington
Very clean hotel, large comfortable room, very comfortable bed, beautifully decorated breakfast area, exceptional staff. The innkeeper literally gave me a Vermont map and sat down and circled places to see beautiful waterfalls and great places to go on our route and the advice turned out to be great and made our trip a lot better.
Killington
There isn't anything to dislike, the staff are nothing short of amazing, the staff couldn't physically do , more to help you if they tried. Their own distillery is superb... try the maple leaf bourbon. This hotel is a hidden gem in vermont. Absolutely beautiful scenery, beds are comfy, hotel is fantastic.
Bristol
Everything about the Hotel and area of Vermont. The downtown area is wonderful with many options for stores and restaurants. The beautiful mountains and weather were great! I stayed here a few years ago and have family that moved here..and they too are happy to be there and part of the community.
Stowe
When we noticed we had a room with queen bed, we upgraded our room to a suite. That was quite nice. We had a fireplace in the room. The room was clean and breakfast at the hotel was delicious! It is a very nice place to stay in town. I would definitely like to stay again when we are in Vermont.
Overall good location for Vermont short weekend trip. I would have preferred a little bit more space in the room. Our room was in the building next to main building for breakfast. Short walk to the lobby. Overall hotel was close but still need to drive to downtown Vermont area.
Very clean hotel in an excellent location for touring Vermont. Very good breakfast. The hotel workers were very helpful. As we were in New England for 1 month vacation - the hotel's washing machine was an excellent addition for us. A highly recomended place.
West Dover
Lovely hotel with beautiful views and walks out the back. Just of the Vermont 100 which was great for our little road trip. Staff were super friendly and made a great dinner recommendation. Rooms were clean and the whole place had a beautiful ski lodge style.
Manchester
A work trip to Montpelier with state officials brought us to Vermont. We decided to stay on and chose the historic inn for a five night stay over the Thanksgiving holiday. The highlights of the hotel were the lounge with fireplace and the inn’s location.
we used to love it here but will no longer stay I strongly recommend anyone staying in the vermont area call and see if they are housing the homeless or acting as overflow for halfway houses. this city and surrounding city’s are turning to dumps.
The property was bright, clean & in an amazing location. I typically stay at Hotel Vermont next door but thought I would give this Hilton a try. Soooo happy I did b/c I absolutely loved it. I will be back from now on!
1) Nice sized room and comfortable bed. 2) Lovely central location to drive around Vermonts lovely towns. Would be great in the snow season with open fires. 3) Plenty of Bars and Restaurants nearby.
The hotel staff were particularly friendly and accommodating. It is a great location for visiting other parts of beautiful Vermont. I would highly recommend it.
Excellent hotel after a day-tour by Vermont, quiet and huge room with kitchenette. Convenient price in the region. Our group have a good time at night meeting
