Fame Recording Studio tour was excellent. Loved Frank Lloyd Wright's Rosenbaum House and the W.C. Handy Home & Museum in nearby Florence. Unfortunately Muscle Shoals Sound Studio was closed but one of the staff did open up so we could pick up a few souvenirs from the gift shop! Didn't have time to tour the Alabama Music Hall of Fame but did check out the Mississippi to Alabama Blues Trail Marker and the commemorative bricks at the front.
Beautiful beaches nearby and lovely waterfront walks. The USS Alabama Memorial Park was amazing and had some great exhibits. We didn't stay long enough to sample the night life or shopping facilities.
The people were great! USS Alabama magnificent -you do not see a real battleship every day! Restaurants superb! DUKW tour very good! Mobile has seen better days, but it is coming back - the architecture is fabulous and the parts around Government Street/Dauphin St safe to walk. Its a real FIND!
People interested in the civil rights movement history are in the correct Place in Montgomery! Rosa Parks museum and the Alabama history museum are the places to check out! Friendly people!
The tour of the Mardi Gras museum and the USS Alabama and adjacent submarine are worth the time. Who knew that Mardi Gras in the USA started in Mobile? Mobile has sufficient fine dining options for a week with no repeats; I especially enjoyed The Dumbwaiter, NoJa, and Dauphins. Mobile has a safe, hospitable feel, with everybody from homeless to professionals and business executives seeming friendly. After several years of a challenged economy, Mobile seems to be in a revitalization phase, with new industry and new investment opportunities for people interested in economic development. A charming Southern city that is rebounding nicely after a couple of hurricanes.
You left the best tourist draw off of your list of attractions, the Alabama Shakespeare Festival. This exquisite building shares a large suburban park with the Montgomery Museum of Fine Arts which is also an excellent way to spend some time. ASF is a regional repertory theater with world class productions of all types, not just Shakespeare. Take Exit 6 off of I-85 and go right (south) to Vaughn Road. Take a left (east) on Vaughn and the park entrance is on the left a half mile further on.
Central Southern Alabama small city with all the needed conveniences, close to Gulf Shores beaches but lower priced, a lot of good restaurants and hotels yet it is still country not big city. Great area for boating on the bays and estuaries.
Good stop over place to stay, visit to the USS Alabama is well worth the time, park has a number of old military vehicles and USS Drum, 2nd WW submarine.
We saw "Two Gentlemen of Verona" at the Alabama Shakespeare Festival (it's a full-time theatre, not a festival, so don't let the name confuse you) and it was first rate, an excellent professional performance. Montgomery has several beautiful parks, an ice rink in the mall that is open every day, and some good food. Lots of quality Asian restaurants, especially Korean, due to the Hyundai plant in the area.
Great visit with nice easy tourist trails to follow. Went to old Alabama town and staff all helpful. Nicely laid out town. Managed to see baseball in local stadium that was cool. River walk clean and nice.
Orange Beach
Gorgeous very large condo apartment with modern kitchen, living room large bedroom and bath and sunny balcony with ample windows. Sparkly clean, hot tub and beach towels provided. Wonderful place to stay right on the beach. Two heated swimming pools to 86 degrees, parking is a flat $45 for 1 to 90 days. Close to everything, all shops including Walmart. Great restaurants nearby. On the way north there is the Alabama Gulf zoo and Safari Cafe with delish food at a good price, but small portions. A fun half day.
Your staff is exceptional. They went above-and-beyond to make me completely happy. Kyndasia is especially outstanding. She was everything-and-more who anyone could want in someone who is helping them to be comfortable and pleased. I am absolutely ecstatic with my four days at your hotel in Orange Beach, Alabama. I will stay there every time I go to Orange Beach. The room was perfect: lovely, comfortable and large. I cannot say enough good things about this hotel and staff.
We were pleasantly surprised by this stay in Tuscaloosa! We were in for Homecoming weekend, and this was a great value for this particular weekend! The entire hotel has been recently renovated and look brand new! our room was spacious and open with all new flooring ang great ALABAMA artwork to decorate! Clean, bright, and convenient- about a 10 min drive to campus! We will be booking this property again!
Worse property ever!!!!!!! They cancelled our room and didn’t give us any notice! We drove 5 hrs to Alabama with no where to stay when we arrived. They gave away our room to cruise passengers then sent us to another hotel that was also booked. We called around hotels for 2 hrs before finally finding one that had vacancies. They also took my money and could care less!
Was visiting daughter going to school at University of Alabama. Place is in great location right next to her apartment building. Place is new, modern, & clean. Rooms had that ‘high end’ feel, but price was not much more than a ‘regular’ hotel. Staff was friendly. Breakfast was good. Evidently there is a ‘nice restaurant’ on top floor, but we did not go up there.
Beautiful small hotel in a wonderful location! Rooms were very nice, comfortable and very clean. Loved the rooftop bar/restaurant and the amazing coffee shop right across the street. Perfect location -- quiet area near the river, everything downtown and a super quick 5 minute drive to The University of Alabama. Will definitely stay here again!!
The price, the quality of service and product. Comfortable. Quite and out of the way location, yet next to major highway and only a 5 minute drive into town. I'm positive I found the hotel I want to stay at from now on when I make my traditional one a year visit to Tuscaloosa for an Alabama football game!
I was in town for a basketball game and was met with a very friendly gentleman at the desk. He gave me directions to Alabama A&M and was very helpful, friendly and funny. He took away any worries I had. The hotel was quiet and the location was great. Nice comfortable room also. I will stay here again!
Foley
This small hotel is wonderful, it is like staying at a museum. The staff and owner showed us around when we arrived and told us the history of the house. There are so many small details in every room. The rooms are fantastic and the breakfast is really good. It was a great stop on our way through Alabama.
The breakfast was absolutely amazing. The staff was very nice and helpful. I have stayed at Hotels with Bigger names and pricer cost and they still wasn't as nice as this one. The Opelika Alabama location is the Microtel that I am speaking about the Auburn Alabama location is a No Go !!!!!
The price, the great accommodating staff. And the super comfortable beds that have been the most comfortable hotel beds I've ever slept in. I make a once a year visit to Alabama and when I fly in and out of Birmingham to do so I without a doubt or hesitation stay at this hotel every year.
Stayed one night to visit a friend at University of Alabama. Really great spot for the price! Front desk staff was sharp and helpful, parking lot is brightly lit, room was small, but clean and everything worked well. Comfortable soft bed and pillows. Close to campus.
It was only 3 miles from Alabama Adventure and 18 miles from Downtown Birmingham. There is a Jack's Restaurant 500 feet from the hotel and a Domino's about 3 miles from the Hotel. They do have a drink machine and snack machine in the lobby.
location for Mountain Brook was excellent. staff friendly and helpfull. price was high but Alabama were playing that weekend so prices were high. hotel was a bit worn in places but no doubt will be sorted in due time. Thanks Hampton MB
I made the reservations to attend my 50th yr. Golden Graduation from Alabama State University. The hotel was located minutes away from the University. The Staff was congenial and very courteous. The complimentary cookies were great!!
Comfortable Bed. Spacious Room. Cleanliness of the whole facility. The facility being the former Alabama Hotel, Baymont was able to renovate without removing the old school charm. For the value of the rooms, this is well worth it.
The breakfast was good.It even offered Conecuh Sausage which is made in my hometown of Evergreen, Alabama. But I would like to make a suggestion that the hotel offer turkey or beef sausage for those of us that don't eat pork.
We were so pleased with the staff and comfort of this hotel. I have three children who live in Alabama and this hotel was the absolute best location to be able to see all three of them. Thank you so much for a wonderful stay.
The location is awesome and can't be beat when visiting students of The University of Alabama. We enjoyed the option to eat in the restaurant at Hotel Capstone. The staff was very friendly and accommodating.
The location is EVERYTHING!!!!!! It is located close to everything you could possibly want and/or need. The breakfast is a plus! Every time my family and I visit Foley, Alabama we stay at this hotel.
