Located in Kilindoni, 3.4 miles from Rufiji Mafia Kilwa Marine Reserve, Mafia Dream Hotel provides accommodations with an outdoor swimming pool, free private parking, a garden and a shared lounge. Wonderful staff, excellent beds and a very nice swimming pool. The chef made some very good meals and the room was very spacious and very new. The staff is also very helpful if you want to explore the island. I can highly recommend Mafia Dream Hotel if you are looking for a place at Mafia Island.

Located in Kilindoni, 4.4 miles from Rufiji Mafia Kilwa Marine Reserve, Maisara Mafia Beach Lodge has accommodations with a garden, free private parking, a terrace and a restaurant. Beautiful bungalows with a huge garden directly in front of the beach. All the bungalows have a big glass front where you can see the garden and at some locations the beach. Incredibly nice staff - try to help and accommodate wherever they can. Could change the room without problems as I needed AC to be able to sleep (March can be incredibly hot and humid). Even came back to the hotel after diving on the other side of the island. Everything seems a bit rustic as first but you will definitely fall in love with it. There is a really really nice gift shop with handicrafts on site - really nice woman from the village, definitely one to support. The locations to the beach is super close and to the left there are two more hotels you can go for dinner or a drink. People all know each other on Mafia and help you with everything! :) Breakfast is great!

Mafia Island Bungalows offers accommodations in Utende, 3.8 miles from Rufiji Mafia Kilwa Marine Reserve. The staff was amazing, very hospitable and took care of everything. Breakfast and dinner was great, they have a really great chef and attentive personnel. They also rented us bikes for free, such that we could drive to the dive shop (~10 minutes by bike). Great and inexpensive stay!

Kileleni has an outdoor swimming pool, garden, a terrace and bar in Kilindoni. Each room includes a patio. At the resort, rooms contain a desk, bed linen and a balcony with a garden view. Ali and his team provided superior service catering to our every need, whether it was last minute activity, transport or meal request. Super welcoming team doing their utmost to make us feel at home.

With Rufiji Mafia Kilwa Marine Reserve reachable in 4.3 miles, Kitu Kiblu has accommodations, a restaurant, a garden, a terrace and a bar. Some units feature a seating area and/or a balcony. KK is extremely tranquil and perfect for getting away from the hustle and bustle of anywhere else. The setting is so peaceful hidden under the high canopy of the tropical forest. The staff are amazing and so helpful with anything on the island. The food is tasty and great value. The area has no other tourists so very quiet. The outdoor showers with Kerosene heating is pretty cool too.

Offering inner courtyard views, Mgeni Homestay in Kilindoni features accommodations and a shared lounge. There's a private entrance at the homestay for the convenience of those who stay. Mgeni Homestay was the best value accomodation that we've stayed in during our African travels. While the building itself is basic the rooms have everything you need: comfortable bed and pillows, mosquito net, ceiling fan, somewhere to sit that isn't the bed and places to hang your drying towels (and clothes if you've done some handwashing). Aly was also very helpful at organising excursions and taxis for us, while Bunda cooked fresh, delicious and generous meals (including a good amount of vegetables, which can be hard to come by). The homestay is close enough to the airport that you can walk there if you have packs (not ok for wheelie suitcases) and don't mind a hot walk. The ATMs are also a short walk further than the airport so they are also accessible. We appreciated our stay so much that we returned for second stay before leaving the island.
