The hotel is in a perfect location, steps from the metro and minutes from GamlaStan on foot. I think I would come to Stockholm just to stay at this hotel. The bed and bedding were like sleeping in a cloud-did not want to get out of it in the morning. What did get me out of bed was the breakfast each morning. It alone is worth getting on a plane for-so much variety and deliciousness, even the makings for a mimosa. Yes, the rooms are small, but that is not why you are in Stockholm, right? My room had so many thoughtful and unique features, e.g. the fast magnetic charger for phones on the desk, ability to dim the lights, gorgeous design touches. So if that is not enough, the staff are so warm, welcoming, with smiles on their faces and always up for accommodating our questions and requests. We had to leave for our flight before breakfast and they actually packed us a takeaway which was much appreciated with 4 hungry teenagers.

They offered us a take away breakfast for our early leave. Breakfast had gluten free options. Gluten free cinnamon bun was so delicious. Location is amazing. You can walk or take a boat or take a bus literally in front of the hotel to old town.

Uppsala is such a stunning City with so much culture and history to take in, the old capital did not disappoint: 1. The Cathedral is beautiful, its living history as its still a functioning parish church, it has its own museum (The treasury - containing priceless relics spanning about 900 years, including medieval clothing, recovered grave jewellery from the royal burials, e.g. Gustav Vasas sword, many crowns, sceptres and orbs etc. This was my second visit to this amazing building each time I spent over 3 hours walking round soaking up the ambience, while listening to great live music (choral, piano and organ). I would highly recommend visiting on a Saturday or Sunday when the concerts take place (some are free too). 2. If like me your - interested in History, Uppsala has a great deal on show, several excellent Museums (Gustavanium, Uppland and 3 other University Museums) all within walking distance, and of course Gustav Vasas Castle (now hosting an Art collection and the governor of Uppsala's home). The genius and Swedish botanist Carl Linneas home is also a museum open to the public, is short distance away and worth a visit. 3. Gamla (old) Uppsala is about 6km to the east of the 'new' city (there is a pedestrian path if you would like a walk), this is the old viking spiritual capital with ancient burial mounds and many viking era graves, the old church (Anders Celsius is buried here) and a fascinating little museum, I would recommend it! Uppsala also has some great bars and restaurants in the city centre along the very picturesque riverside to spend the evening.
Visiting Uppsala is very enjoyable for people who like history. From pre-viking ages and Cathedral, there are a lot of things to see. Apart from Glamla Uppsala, Upplandsmuseet really worth visiting. The exhibitions are well organized and admission is free! Above all, Uppsala is a relaxing town as well.
