A piece of France in the Indian Ocean, fully developed and big enough to have everything. A little like a French Hawaii, with a similar climate, including active volcanoes. Being winter it was a little cool at night, subtropical rather than a true tropical climate. But hey, subtropical is the perfect climate anyway. A great place to visit. If you get there late at night, the taxis are a little scarce at the airport and there is no shuttle, so you will have to approach the information desk just inside the door in the arrivals terminal to arrange one. You may have to share a cab with others in the same boat. Worked out cheaper that way anyway. Plenty to see, I was only there for work, wish I had more time and time off to explore some more. Easy to walk around Saint-Denis, but be warned, the stores close early, the supermarket by 7.15pm and closed most of Sunday.
The hotel is an astonishing colonial house placed on one of the most beautiful streets of Saint-Denis. Made it perfect to explore the city or just relax there observing the surroundings. As we arrived, we were offered some welcome refreshing drinks which is always a touch of class. The staff was very friendly and ready to help. The room was very nice and comfortable without losing the spirit of the house. It also had some free coffee pods and water which is always appreciated. Definitely, we will come back there if we are back in Reunion.
The hotel is well located in the center of Saint-Denis and the area is safe. As a solo traveller, I felt secure. I appreciated the service from the room maids who were very warm, as well as from Shirley, the receptionist who was very professional and cordial even when a mistake regarding double payment had occured from their side.

Hotel was 5 minutes walk from the bus Car Jaune (from the airport for 2 Euros). Hotel had a pool, great breakfast, clean, comfortable bed, nice bathroom.
