For the private waterfall, the quirky and heartwarming handmade details all around the grounds, the nightsky, feeding trouts, hearing blue ducks, or the room with costumes, but most importantly for feeling this unique spot between nature and garden. It is so peaceful and quiet it is absolutely mind-boggling.

The inside of this historic hotel was charming, comfortable and quiet. The host gave my friend and me private rooms even though we booked a shared room because we were to get only guests in the hotel. She was very kind and thoughtful. I highly recommend - especially if you like historic buildings.

The Powderhorn Chateau is located in Ohakune, at the entrance to Tongariro National Park. Love the mulled wine (the best I've ever had in nz). The restaurant was full and the food was amazing, we had seafood chowder, pork ribs, and a burger. The room is spacious and love the idea of providing the electronic blanket.

Hotel Coachman is located in the heart of Palmerston North. It offers a large outdoor swimming pool, 2 hot tubs, plus a fitness center. Free Wi-Fi is included. The hotel was lovely. The receptionist was very helpful and very kindly upgraded my room for free. I was so delighted. Im sorry that I dont know her name.

Located in the Tongariro National Park, The Park Hotel Ruapehu offers affordable accommodations in a stunning alpine setting. Guests are provided with free parking and 500MB of free WiFi. The room was heated on arrival. Late check in, but greeted by friendly staff. Restaurant had a lovely atmosphere, warm fire, excellent service.
