The Godley Hotel offers country-style accommodations in the alpine village of Lake Tekapo on the South Island. The hotel is centrally located in the village with views of the lake and mountains. Room is good enough for 1 ppl stay! Near to lakeside. Old but comfortable.

MacKenzie Country Hotel is located in Twizel, in the heart of the Aoraki Mount Cook and MacKenzie Country Region. It offers modern rooms with picturesque views of the surrounding mountains. The breakfast was REALLY good! Not complimentary but a great selection and everything was quite tasty.

The Heritage Gateway Hotel is situated in Omarama, at the crossroads of MacKenzie Basin, Lindis Pass and Waitaki Valley. It offers panoramic views and excellent hiking and biking opportunities. Hot breakfast buffet was the best we had on our trip to New Zealand. Can’t say enough how great the staff was!

Aoraki Court Motel is a modern accommodations located in Aoraki Mount Cook National Park. All units feature great views of surrounding mountains and Mount Sefton. The 2 bedroom apartment is lovely, with many large windows looking out to the mountains. Kitchen has full utensils, oven, microwave... There's no supermarket around so be mindful to purchase your supplies in advance (in Geraldine town). At night, you can simply walk out to the yard for stars gazing.

Offering a garden, Flat Rock offers accommodations in Lake Tekapo. Featuring free private parking, the vacation home is 27 miles from Mt. Dobson. This was a great place in Lake Tekapo. The community was quiet, the kitchen was fully equipped, the bathroom nice and had a wonderful hot shower with high pressure, and the beds were SO comfy and had a much-needed heated pad. We had a car so it was a 4-minute drive to Four Square grocery (where you can walk to the Tekapo waterfront), but we also walked, and it took about 20-25 minutes, so depending on what you'd prefer, it's still reasonably close for those without a car. One thing to note, but not necessarily a bad thing, they do have a washer, but only a drying rack. This didn't bother me, but just wanted to let others know. Overall the stay was very cozy and I would absolutely come back here.
