Breakfast was good, very cute getting a little hamper with all the food inside. The hotel itself was great, very friendly atmosphere and the staff were very welcoming. Rachel was exceptional, working all around the clock to make sure everyone was satisfied with their stay. Would definitely recommend and we will be back for our next concert 😄

The room was nice, clean and spacious, with a very pleasant design. The bed is HUGE and very comfortable. The bathroom was also large and clean and had all the amenities. Location is also a great, being 5 minutes away by foot from the metro station or at a 5 minutes walk from train station (for airport). A half an hour walk will take you to Dam Square. A supermarket is just across the street. I also appreciated the free jelly jars at the reception :).

I was very impressed that we had free coffee, water (with mint and lemon!), soft drinks and rolls available in the afternoon. The setting is very cozy and we enjoyed spending time in the hotel lobby. On departure we received a gift. There was also a polaroid camera with which we took pictures as a souvenir. I recommend the hotel with both hands. Thank you Mr. Jordaan! Will come again!

Housed in a paddle steamer that dates from 1911, Kapitein Anna is located in Amsterdam. The accommodation will provide you with air conditioning. Private bathroom also comes with free toiletries. Anthony was a wonderful host,. Excellent and unlimited breakfast, small but functional cabins. In the evening after returning from the city tour, we could have tea and coffee, free of charge, and sit on the upper deck as long as we wanted. The Central station and the center are very easy to reach with free ferries. A few minutes' walk and you are close to a couple of restaurants.

IJmuiden is really just a container port and lacks any kind of facility for solo travellers or families. Okay there are the dunes and the North Sea coast to explore but there are plenty of more pleasant places I would choose to stay along that coastline. I found one little restaurant / take away place with a bar near my hotel where I was made to feel welcome but that was it. The town centre was a mess with various building works all over the place and there is of course the scenic view over the container port to the steel works. I'm sorry to say but the only saving grace about IJmuiden is that Amsterdam is a minute bus ride away and Haarlem about 20 minutes. I've stayed in many places in Noord-Holland but this one will be memorable for all the wrong reasons.
