THE SWIMMING AND RELAXATION ASPECT WAS WORTH A MILLION , BILENE HAS EVERYTHING TO OFFER EXCELLENT RESTAURANTS AND FINE DINING WE FOUND THE DISTANCES OF THE AMIENETIES WERE COMFORTABLE WALKING DISTANCES THE ONY THING THAT i WOULD AVOID ON MY NEXT VISIT IS THE DRIVE TO MACES TO GET WHATEVER.
Dont under estimate drive to Praia do Bilene . speed limits are 60 80 and 100km it takes a good three hours . Small town with market for basic food. accom situated along the lagoon. not easy to go to the sea. need 4x4 for some routes. restaurant in Praia was OK . Nice restaurant across the lagoon . not many other activities in the area . main resorts have watersports , fishing and just relaxing .
BORDER CROSSING WAS A NIGHTMARE. SPEED LIMITS ARE TOO STRICT. 4 hours traveling from Maputo to Bilene...280 km.
The location excellent, lovely beach truly worth going, however no signage to get to the location, roads are bad would recommend a 4X4 inside Bilene, to get there main roads are good, however stick to the speed limits as cops are everywhere and they will stop you and fine you. No shops in Bilene, only local market which could do with structure. Badly signed so if looking for places to eat you need to search. If going there take supplies and be prepared. Otherwise lovely place to spend a week of relaxation and stress free.
Very very beautiful and HOT! We went during late December, and it was way too quiet for my liking. Bilene is a resort town, so without that energy and vibe of crowds it was missing that festive feeling. The water is absolutely beautiful and peaceful, definitely a place I'd love to visit again but probably during the festive season rather.
The village is very run down, 4th world status. Places are not well sign posted. You can only access the main beach on the Indian Ocean by boat and the cost of the boat ride across the lagoon is costly. The lagoon is not suitable for swimming. Of the various restaurants in Bilene, only three are of a good standard. It's a long way, 33kms to the supermarket, so holiday makers need to bring all their meal requirements. A small number of vegetables are available from the local people in the market area. A few pluses is that the village of Bilene is safe and peaceful. The local people are very friendly.
We spent a wonderful 4 days at Bilene lodge. The location is ideal for families. The beach is absolutely beautiful and the water is turquoise and clear. We will definitely be back and recommending it to all our friends.
Aside from the single road which make the journey long, it is rewarding once you arrive at the resort.The town of Vila Praia Do Bilene has limited groceries so take whatever you need from home or alternatively you will have to stock up at one of the bigger towns before Bilene.The market place of Bilene offers hand made wooden crafts,ethnic clothes ,coconut water,cashew nuts and fresh seafood from fish,prawn and crab-a laid back market with organic and culture to offer.Locals traders are friendly and obliging. Navigating through Bilene is simple since the commercial areas is concentrated on the main street. The family and kids enjoy the the waist high:warm,calm and transparent waters.Take a snorkeling kit with and the underwater adventure can go on for hours.

The staff was welcoming and ensured that our stay was as comfortable and convenient as possible. They provided as much help as possible with directions and recommendations of places and things to try out in Bilene. They even helped facilitate some of the activities. It's right next to the beach and the view from our room was breathtaking especially in the morning. It is also quite accessible for those on wheelchairs. The breakfast was great. The entire experience was amazing.
I like very much the hotel layout, very beautiful and the rooms also good. The swimming pool is amazing and the restaurant area also beautiful. Overall very nice boutique hotel. Super Location, you can get better that this in Bilene!
