Noordin Mews 3 stars

Hotel in George Town

Noordin Mews is a boutique hotel housed in a historical building in central Penang. It offers an outdoor pool and provides free Wi-Fi throughout the building. Perfect. Perfect. Perfect. Zero to complain about. Spotlessly clean room. It is tremendously difficult to find upmarket hotels that allow pets and Noordin Mews is a Godsend. Perfectly located. We arrived late and found the room ready and already cooled with the air conditioning for our arrival. Fabulous shower with hot water available all the time. Coffee machine in the room and water supplied everyday. Seamless communication before we arrived via whats app. Lovely breakfast, extremely friendly and hospitable staff. Rooms were cleaned meticulously every day and absolutely smell free - you'd never know pets were staying there. Lovely little gifts for our 3 dogs and the room comes with little doggy bags and handy packs of aloe wipes. In the room is a handy guide to pet friendly dining and places, incl which beach to go to. I rarely leave reviews and this is well earned. We will definitely be back.

Marriott Executive Apartments, Penang 5 stars

Hotel in George Town

Located in George Town, 800 metres from Northam Beach, Marriott Executive Apartments, Penang provides accommodation with an outdoor swimming pool, private parking, a fitness centre and a restaurant. We stayed here at the beginning of our trip to Penang before their grand opening, and it was so amazing we kept extending it! We then came at the end of our trip and extended once again, staying a total of 6 nights! The apartments were impeccably comfortable, clean and beautifully designed. Very thoughtful of the guest's experience, also providing complimentary amenities every day and equipped with everything you could ever need, even washing and drying machines, as well as a dish washing machine which was all very handy throughout our long stay. The breakfast was delicious and had a wide variety of choices, which we loved. The team at breakfast was lovely, in particular a senior Indian Malay lady trainee from the waitress team who was very warm and hospitable, we're sad we didn't catch her name. The concierge luggage helper Ammar, was fantastic and incredibly friendly! He went out of his way and patiently helped us handle a few requests. The receptionists Kharisma, Adam, Weena and Adriana were outstanding and very kind and assisted us with everything we needed! We also made friends with the exceptional team from the Bar, Kucina restaurant and Lava Java café downstairs. Mac, the nicest waiter who introduced us to the hotel on the first day! Evan, the pro barista always with a genuine smile and passion to serve guests. Ganish, Fandey, Atira and Sharvin too, they all made our stay memorable. Lastly, the housekeepers on our floor and the team from the room service were also exceptional and really made us feel well taken care of. Thank you all and we will certainly see you soon! FAQs about hotels in Penang

A Palm-Lined Pearl

An island and part of the mainland make up the small Malaysian region of Penang, also known as the ‘pearl of the Orient’. It has long been coveted and the capital Georgetown has many elegant Colonial buildings. The observation deck of the KOMTAR tower – the tallest building – offers spectacular views of the town and surrounding mountains.

A funicular railway goes up to Penang Hill deep in the forest. Nearby Air Itam has one of Asia’s largest Buddhist temples - Kek Lok Si – lit by hundreds of lights at night. Another fantastic temple is Taoist Kong Hock Keong in Georgetown.

Penang Airport is near southern Bayan Lepas, and across the Malacca Strait is Pulau Jerejak, a peaceful island where trees merge into ocean.

In the much livelier north, Batu Feringghi is the largest resort, with lots of Penang hotels on the beach, plenty of bars and a night market. East, green mountains slope down to blue waters at Tanjung Bungah, where several high-rise hotels overlook the palm-lined beach towards the Floating Mosque just offshore.

On the mainland Butterworth is the departure point for ferries to Penang island, and has a bird park housing a large number of Malaysian species. Wherever you decide to stay, Booking.com has a fantastic range of Penang hotels and apartments to choose from.
