It was great to relax in the evening breeze on the rooftop after a shower. I really love it. There is also a Mercado on the way to the center of Centro, which is about a 5 minute walk. I became a big fan of the shrimp cocktail from the vendor near the entrance. The bus stop to Santuario de Atotnilco, where has UNESCO World Heritage church, is just around the corner. Anyway, it is conveniently located and very safe at night. The iced coffee made by the owner Carolina at the adjacent cafe is cheap but tastes better than anywhere else, so give it a try! I really recommend this hotel. I definitely come back there!

Guanajuato es una ciudad hermosa para caminar y conocer a pie. Encuentras muchos artistas y cosas que Hacer, las callejoneadas es algo que debes hacer como actividad al igual que conocer el teatro Juárez y los museos.
The Jardin Garden square is great place to people watch while you sip on a drink or have a meal. The buildings in the hills that surround Guanajuato center are alive with color, as they have a code that says adjoining buildings must be painted a different colour. It's a very fun city to walk in and we felt very safe.
Guanajuato is an excellent place to travel with family as well as friends and just for couples. Will definitely be going back soon. Very friendly and the town is full of life. I love it.
Guanajuato is a beautiful city. We visited during a three day weekend and I wish we had one more day. The food is delicious and inexpensive. The tours are very informative and interesting. The callejonada was fun!
My family and I visited the exceptional city Guanajuato. We liked the colonial architecture, the narrow streets build with cobbled stone, alleyways and the tunnels. We ate at the restaurants that were close to our hotel. They were Casa Valadez , La Trattoria, Santo Cafe, and La Capellina to name a few. The food was tasty and delicious at these places. The mode of transportation was quite easy for us. We stayed near Historical Centro everything was walking distance to the Pipila; we bought a round trip in the Fanicular up and down the Cerro. We did spend a lot of time in the Historical Centro; there were many sites to see and visit. The taxi took us to El Cocherro Museum than to the Church La Valenciana after that the Momias Museum. Behind the museum, we visited the Guanajuato Cemetery. We walked through the cemetery; we realized how old this city has been in exsistence. We also visited El Cubilete, we took the camión right behind the Alhondiga de granaditas Museum. We took an early bus ride; it was really inexpensive; we bought a round trip. The camión ride was quite an forgettable experience. It was a scenic ride through the cerros of Guanajuato. Over all we really enjoy our travels to this Historical City of Guanajuato, Guanajuanto, MX .
Guanajuato is just beautiful, we met awesome people, the guides were very knowledgeable. I never thought that a place like this exist is just another world!!
Guanjuato is a beautiful colonial city with a lot of history. It is a great city to explore for solo travelers as well as for couples and families. The narrow cobble stone streets and street vendors along with the small cafes and restaurants will take you back to a simpler time. I studied at the University of Guanajuato ans am happy to be back to visit and hope to come back again. Enjoy!
So happy we chose to visit Guanajuato, it's a beautiful place, always happy, made us feel alive! The callejoneadas were amazing! So much to learn. Lots of delicious food to eat! Highly recommend Guanajuato!
A beautiful and gracious city in the temperate climate of the mountains. As a UNESCO city, the preservation of the city’s historical charm is abundant and keeps the trappings of modernity in check. With a thriving art, history and cultural presence and, above all, its welcome mat to ex-pats, we felt so at home that we are considering it as a retirement destination. Favorite places to visit and eat were the Central Jardin, Juan Benito Juarez Parque (the white heron were nesting), the Botanical Cacti Gardens, the galleries of the Fabrica de Aurora and neighboring city, Guanajuato’s town center. The best meals were had at Centanni, Cafe Rama, La Luna on the top terrace of The Rosewood and brunch at the Fabrica de Aurora.
Guanajuato is a hidden gem for Americans. Even my world traveler friends have never heard of it and a selfish part of me would like to keep it that way. It has a European feel without the hassle and price point of actual Europe. It’s a destination that I want to return to annually on weekend trips just to reexperience the food, music, and architecture.
Guanajuato
The room I got was big. The bed was clean and comfortable. Wifi worked. The owner provided a map of Guanajuato and gave good advice regarding buses. She was also very nice and woke up 5 AM to get me a Taxi to the airport on the day I left. The place is a short walk from the historical center. However it is not in the historical center. This could be good or bad thing based on your taste. The historical center is more beautiful and has the attractions, but it is very crowded, so you may prefer staying a 10 minute walk away.
The hotel's location is superb, near to the Pipila Monument overlooking Guanajuato, and a short, scenic funicular ride from the main city square. Hotel guests are provided with a free pass for the funicular to use for the duration of your stay. The views from my hotel room and balcony were stunning. The room was bright, spacious, comfortable and clean, with modern facilities, a hot, high pressure shower, and air conditioning, and the staff were very helpful and welcoming.
I loved the view. Ramiro has a GREAT sense of humor. Francisco and Pillar are soooo nice!! If you are worried about the steps, I have Cerebral Palsy. And I LOVED our stay!!! We payed Francisco to help haul our bags. This is Mexico not the states. People shouldn't be writing reviews about the smell in Guanajuato. Concrete buildings and plumbing are different here. The staff went above and beyond to please and make things ultra clean. .
I am currently traveling all over the beautiful country of Mexico, and Martin (owner) has by far been the best host. He pays attention to every single detail. He goes above and beyond to maintain his property as impecable and presentable as possible. Martin ensures your stay at his hotel AND Guanajuato is a most enjoyable one. I am highly satisfied with my experience and I highly recommend this beautiful hotel to the savvy traveler. 😎
The central location in Guanajuato historical center. We had a terrace off our room where we had a great view of the New Years fire works and the historical buildings. The staff was wonderful and even brought us two glasses of champagne to our room at midnight. Also, the bed was very comfortable, the room was warm at night, and quite when the windows were closed (even with everyone celebrating in Guanajuato center).
The service and staff at Hotel La Casona de Don Lucas made our stay very enjoyable with their help arranging our tours and information on fun things to do and visit. Great bunch of friendly people. - Guanajuato is a friendly beautiful city with lots of great places to visit, and "The Callejeneadas" is something not to miss, as is tour with lots of fun the music. We would love to return someday.
Hotel Luna is a beautiful colonial property in the middle of all the action in Guanajuato. The included breakfast was adequate, and the outside dining during the day was lovely in the shade of the plaza's vegetation. Most of all, the staff was incredible. Quick to change a room to a quieter locale in the hotel, or offer travel assistance, I can't say enough nice things about their concern.
This hotel was amazing! The staff are extremely hospitable. One of the receptionists, Diana Bahena was extra kind and sweet when receiving us at 1 in the morning! Rodrigo from room service was very patient and quick! No matter how many times we ordered or asked questions, he attended us politely and with a smile. I will definitely be staying here again on my next trip to Guanajuato.
Guanajuato
Great location and not too many stairs to take, it’s on the second floor of a Japanese restaurant so you won’t be hungry and will get 15% off as well. Alex is super helpful and friendly, he gave me a lot of useful information not about Guanajuato but we had great chats about other places in Mexico. Thanks so much for the champurrado, hope to come back to this lovely town one day.
This was our second stay here for months in Hotel Santa Regina. Best location in Guanajuato to visit some of the most iconic sites in the city such as the Basílica Colegiata de Nuestra Señora de Guanajuato. The staff is attentive and helpful. The hotel also offers a nice breakfast at a sister location nearby. Highly recommended.
The property itself was quite beautiful not that far from the center. Only stayed for a night since we didn’t want to travel to late from San Miguel de Allende to Guanajuato. Loved the boutique style hotel, with individualized spacious rooms, enjoyed the balcony and artisanal hand made soaps that they offer during our stay.
Casa de Colores was fantastic! A beautiful and unique property reminiscent of traditional Mexico. The owner is so nice and very helpful. The included breakfast was wonderful, as well. I'd recommend this place to anyone who is visiting the beautiful city of Guanajuato.
Central, clean and beautiful apartment in a traditional setting. Olga was an excellent host who checked every day with is making sure that everything was fine. Highly recommend! We were allowed to check out late for our evening bus out of Guanajuato. Many thanks!
Guanajuato
I particularly liked that this hotel is unlike any other: distinctive decoration, distribution & shape of rooms, access to two rooftops with gorgeous views over Guanajuato… The hotel was relatively quiet, despite being a 3min-walk away from Jardin del Union.
The location is really at central and easy for movement. The room was excellent because it have good view. Bed are really comfortable. Room is spacious for junior suite which i like it. overall it really good experience to stay at Guanajuato in this hotel.
Location is complicated in Guanajuato, Mexico. La Paz Hotel was in the PERFECT spot, one block walk to all the best restaurants, live Mariachi's singing, and the 'tolling of the bells daily' from the Cathedral next door (like heavenly music).
This hotel offers a magnifienct view over the city of Guanajuato, a beautiful pool area, a lovely breakfast/restaurant area. Some of the restaurant food was good, but not all. The room was big enough with a good options for clothes storage.
Hotel del Frayle is very charming (a palatial ambiance of Guanajuato's history), extremely central, staff is very friendly and helpful (as pointed out by many others) and reasonably priced, so all in all very much recommended!
There’s parking at the hotel, which is quite difficult to find in Guanajuato. All the decorations are just incredible! I loved the terrace, and you can see almost the whole town from up there. At night the stars are magical.
Guanajuato
The price for staying in Guanajuato is really cheap, the host was nice and gave us some tips about the town and events which take place. Also their is free drinking water and the location is good for reaching the centre.
