Set in a 19th-century building, The Sands Hotel, Orkney is located along the shore of Scapa Flow in Burray village. It has a bar, a restaurant and beautiful sea views. Our room and ensuite was very spacious and clean. Little extras in addition to tea and coffee were very much appreciated. All the staff from reception to restaurant were so helpful and attentive. Location was very handy to St Margaret's Hope ferry. Great range of menu in restaurant for breakfast and dinner. It was obvious that many of the locals also come to enjoy the restaurant. Would highly recommend The Sands.

Amazing room. Fantastic breakfast with the chef cooking a perfect fried egg for a very fussy person and amazing porridge with rhubarb compote.

The style and decoration of the hotel were lovely and useful. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom was very clean. The staff was very thoughtful and kind.

Located on the Orkney Island, 14 miles from Kirkwall, Smithfield Hotel offers 3-star accommodations with free parking, a bar, and a restaurant. Kirkwall airport is 30 minutes’ drive away. Very warm welcome from staff. The room was spacious, warm and very comfortable with quality bedding and pillows. Very good shower, great cooked breakfast, with choices, and free parking. Nice and quiet, away from the main towns, supermarket and fuel across the road. Central access to island sights. Highly recommend.

Location exceptionnal , views on the Loch. Calm environment. Top restaurant ,very classy. Cleaning perfect ,king size bed, all amenities in the bathroom.

Located in Kirkwall, 1.7 miles from Scapa Beach, The Orkney Hotel provides accommodations with a garden, free private parking, a restaurant and a bar. Orkney hotel is well situated in the heart of Kirkwall, right next to St. Magnus Cathedral and near to the town centre. Staff was warm, friendly and hospitable and even though the check-in was late at midnite, night manager was on guard to provide the keys and helped with the parking of car. The hotel as well as the selected King Room provided the vintage look, along with the artistic poster bed and other furniture. Netflix on a big screens tv in the evenings was good to relax , added by the jacuzzi in the the bath - the icing on the cake ! Breakfast was good though options were limited. Even we were given the small packed breakfast a night before the next day early checkout, which was very thoughtful gesture from the staff. Large selection of whisky at the hotel's bar was attractive. Overall, though pricey esp. in off season but a good stay to spend short time in Kirkwall.
