Boasting a bar, Benben by Dhara Hotels - Adults Only is set in Aswan. A hot spring bath and a car rental service are available for guests. My family and I stayed one night in Benben and enjoyed it a lot. Truly wished we could have stayed longer. The hotel arranged private pickup from the airport in a relatively nice car and brought us straight to the Nile where we took a short boat ride that brought us to the island that the hotel was located on. The view from the hotel is incredible, you have direct view of one of the most beautiful temples in Egypt from most of the rooms. The layout of the hotel is unique, with each room built on what seems to be its own large rock, and the style of the buildings made it feel like we were staying in Santorini with a Nubian twist. The rooms and facilities were all incredibly clean. The washrooms were clean and modern, and our shower had window (private, with a closable curtain) with a view of the temple. The food in the restaurant was good, with some local food choices available as well as other selections. The staff were all courteous and always eager to be of assistance, with many speaking English respectably well. The reception arranged transport to and from the philae island which was nice, though it was a tad pricey to book through them. Overall, our experience in Benben was incredible and unique.

Wonderful hotel in beautiful setting. Nicely renovated and still gives you the feeling of the early/mid 20th century atmosphere. Very spacious rooms. The food in the 1902 restaurant was very good too, it was not busy there but our expectations were met.

The 3 hour journey from aswan to abu simbel through the desert road was also once in a lifetime experience.

Don't miss Mirbat, the Baobab forest (not easy to find), the Frankincense forest, the spings, the caves We had gorgeous grilled fresh fish in Mirbat harbor All the traditional Dhofari houses have been unfortunately destroyed
