This hotel offers the chance to stay at an almost 500-year-old Gasthaus that has just been renovated to very contemporary standards and re-opened as a modern, cozy hotel. Everything inside is very modern and clean without being too sleek. The staff is extremely helpful. Christian and Danielle gave us a lot of great advice and went above-and-beyond with several favors and errands. We would love to come back to Gmunden and would send all our friends and families to this hotel. If you are in Gmunden, be sure to take the very pleasant walk along the west bank of the Traun River: just cross the bridge from the hotel and turn right/north and walk north along the river.

I stayed for two nights and two days in Steyr, which was just enough time to get to know the area and have a decent look around. A lovely, beautiful town that has a nice old city and rivers running throughout. Plan to go so that you aren't there on a Sunday - everything shuts down so there are only really churches left open (the tourist office is also shut). Other days see a lot of people out and about enjoying the pedestrian only streets and feeding the ducks and swans in the river. I also visited the nearby town of Garsten which by walking was an hour away (can be done in less time by different routes). The main draw card was the Garsten Abbey of which has mostly been converted into a prison. Notably, the prison hosts Josef Fritzl. The church there was beautiful, as all European old churches are. Services are still held there on a Sunday. I walked everywhere whilst I was in Steyr. It is slightly hilly, but overall the walking wasn't too strenuous. I ate at several restaurants on or near the town square. As they often are, the ones closest to the town square are more expensive, but they were also the few that remained open on a Sunday. Overall a really lovely area that I think is worth seeing as an insight into the smaller towns of Upper Austria.
Linz is a nice town in Upper Austria. If you love shopping, there are a lot of shopping centres downtown as well as lots of shops along Landstrase. The streets in Altstadt are really nice. You can enjoy food on a terrace in the castle on the hill near the Danube. I recommend a visit at Ars Electronica Center museum which is a great place for families even for young travellers.

Linz is a nice city and the capitol of Upper Austria where one can find some interesting places like the cathedral, Pöstlingberg, Ars Electronica. Especially during christmas time you will find some marveless christman markets.
Bad Ischl
A beautiful apartment in an authentic, traditional Upper Austrian style building, that was recently renovated and is decorated with delightful vintage antiquities and artefacts. Very spacious, lots of light, excellent bed. Lots of goodies included, we particularly liked that bathing towels were provided for use outside (in the spa or the mearby lakes). An excellent option for couples who want to get a taste of the old Kaiser und Königliche atmosphere of Bad Ischl.
The property is a gem - the area is fantastic if you’re looking for less touristy and more authentic village experience while being not far away from some of the popular spots in upper Austria. We were in the family apartment; everything was perfect, even the smallest details. The highlight of this place was to have a cup of coffee at the balcony while overlooking vast green landscapes and mountains.

The accommodation is fully equipped with all necessities for a cozy stay. The owners family is very friendly, helpful and welcoming. Wonderful stay, highly recommended.

Huge complex with many types of saunas and therm pools, the water is really good and warm. There was also friendly free shuttle service that took us to and from the Geinberg train station as well as for the restaurant at dinner time. Rooms are very spacious complete with ammenities.

1. the pools and in particular the outside area is great. However it’s not very large, and if the place is full it might get a bit crowded – particularly in these times a consideration. 2. The food is really fantastic – you can see they care, and a highlight 3. the ability to rent bikes is very helpful given the wonderful country side that is best enjoyed that way.
