The owners were extremely helpful, assisting with taxi arrangements and welcoming us with tea and biscuits. We enjoyed a delicious breakfast and a lovely dinner made with fresh produce from the garden. The entire experience was wonderful, and we plan to come back for a week next year because there's so much to do in this village. You get a feeling of belonging, and it truly feels comfortable, like nowhere else I've been—such a homely atmosphere. We spent an amazing three days exploring the wild nature, with two recommended hikes to a hilltop temple and through the forest with spice trees. The charges for the hikes were reasonable, considering the time spent with the villagers and the beauty of the country. Our host also showed us beautiful surrounding areas and helped with arrangements to buy spices. The place is eco-friendly, allowing you to connect with nature, experience wildlife, and enjoy a freshwater pool without any chemicals. The owner's commitment to environmental friendliness is commendable, spending hours cleaning the pool without using chemicals. Hats off to them for being environmentally conscious! Oh, and if you switch off the lights at night, it's pitch black, and you can see all the stars. The whole experience was wonderful and magical, and we plan to come back.

The property itself is about 6km from the main road. Its so Isolated the aptly named the hideout. no vehical noices you only hear the birds. The caretaker and his wife were very friendly and made breakfast just way we liked. I would defintly go for another unforgettable stay.

To start off with the rooms are more specious than you can ever imagine, it is bigger than the photos ! The beds are extremely luxurious and big, the bathroom is so large and you have enough room to store all your toiletries. Next the room itself is equipped with a big wardrobe, iron and ironing boards, mini fridge and even a nice private study area for relaxation or business work. The staff, are the epitome of Sri Lankan hospitality! From the beginning we were made to feel very welcome into this property and with open arms they made our stay the best stay ever ! This is my home away from home and next time I am in Sri Lanka, I will stay here and will be recommending this hotel to all our family and friends as well! Special thanks to Kavindu, Amila, Anura, chef Priyantha for catering to our every need and making us feel like royalty with their treatment !! They were so kind and I will never forget their hospitality as this kind of quality and service is extremely rare to find ! The property itself is tucked away behind some beautiful paddy feels and our room overlooked the most amazing pool which is cleaned daily! The pool itself we have been in several times and it is clean and extremely refreshing on the warmer days. When we weren’t in the pool we were in the comfort of the AC’d hotel room, watching TV or sleeping on the comfy beds. A perfect holiday! Ruwanara is one of a kind and you won’t find a hotel like this anywhere in Sri Lanka or surrounding areas. We saw many magnificent weddings taking place and we learnt it caters up to 450 person weddings and can accomodate guests with rooms as well! I have recommended this hotel to all my family for any of their upcoming weddings as I think the service and location is just perfect !! I cannot wait to be back.

I definitely recommend this place, and we will certainly visit again on our next trip to Sri Lanka.
