The property is non-smoking and is set 5.4 km from Centre national du costume de scène. We stayed in a section of the hosts' home, partitioned off by a curtain. The toilet and bath were connected to the room we stayed in. The room has it's own access to the terrace and garden so you can come and go as you like without going through the rest of the house. There's a table and chairs on the terrace which we used to have the dinner we brought with us as well as breakfast the next morning. Everything was clean and we had what we needed to recharge on our drive from Spain to Germany. The property is very secluded, quiet and a great place to rest if you're looking for a simple refuge. The hosts were friendly and I'm sure would have been up for having a nice chat and recommending things to do in the area, but we were in a bit of a rush. We didn't end up swimming in the pool, though it did look very inviting. The garden is large and includes a small pagoda, vegetable garden and a few fruit trees. There are cats and a chicken coop on the property. Although I'm allergic to cat hair, I didn't have any problems. Breakfast was typically French: coffee, juice, croissant, some bread with butter and marmelade. I think the blackberry/raspberry marmelade might have been homemade.

Our hosts could not have been more friendly and helpful. After a day in the nearby medieval village of Hérissons in 35C heat, the swimming-pool was welcome! At the end of the second evening our hosts joined us (with another guest) for a 'repas simple'. The whole experience was charming, so it's 'à la retour'.

Also Apremont sur Allier. 50 km but a beautiful plus beaux village. Restaurant there and Parc Floral open on the weekend. The most beautiful garden in the area.

A spotlessly clean, very well appointed room in a quiet rural setting, run by delightful hosts. We booked in for the Table dHote dinner which was extremely good, with a wide variety of excellent drinks included. We thoroughly enjoyed a very pleasant evening, chatting to our hosts. A real taste of the true France. A great breakfast, as well.

The owners went out of their way to make our overnight stay in their beautiful historic home pleasant and memorable.
