What a warm welcome by Lauwrens, we had ordered another breakfast, extensive, after our long bus journey from Lima. This one was exquisite! After breakfast we drove with Lauwrens to Lake Salinas and did a hike of 3/4 hours in that area. Even though our host is originally Dutch, he knows a lot about the area and tells it nicely. Tomorrow we will explore the city.

Oscar, one of the breakfast waiters, was keen for us to try all of the Peruvian goodies on the elaborate breakfast buffet. These goodies ranged from tuno (red prickly pear) to raw honey from the comb. My favourite was the adobo (slow cooked pork belly with a spicy and tangy adobo sauce.)

The location was perfect though the first night we had a room on the square and due to a city festival there was a lot of noise through the night. Staff was helpful in changing the room the day after
