The New Inn, hotel in Llanwddyn

Boasting a restaurant, bar and free WiFi, The New Inn is situated in Oswestry, 18 km from Lake Vyrnwy and 36 km from Whittington Castle.

Reminded me of fawlty towers, staff were lovely but food was very basic and room was extremely out dated, peeling wall paper, uncomfortable bedding, no shower. For what we paid I would expect better I’m afraid

Berwyn Shepherds Hut, hotel in Llanwddyn

Offering garden views, Berwyn Shepherds Hut is an accommodation located in Wrexham, 25 km from Whittington Castle and 25 km from Horseshoe Pass.

I bought my boyfriend the aqueduct canoeing experience as a gift for Christmas so we booked the shepherds hut for our stay. What a glorious corner of the earth! Waking up to the sound of the little creek that runs past the hut & the sound of the sheep is so relaxing. You have no signal so you have a few days away from hectic modern life. The views are absolutely stunning & the stars at night are amazing as there’s no light pollution! You can cozy up by the fire pit & even toast a few marshmallows. Laura was so lovely & helpful & I thank her for sharing her little paradise with us. I would highly recommend the shepherds hut if you’re in the area & wanting a few days “off grid”.

Loved the authentic feel to this hotel and the location and view were INCREDIBLE. Spa was also amazing and would highly recommend going there, really clean and inviting. Staff were friendly and did what they could to help. Also the room was huge and nowadays you don't find a room that size anywhere! Even better that it's dog friendly!

The location was amazing. We had a room with the lake view which you could look over from the bedroom and bathroom, we were lucky to see an amazing sunset that night. Check in and out and effortless. We were greeted by and amazing woman who was on the desk for our whole stay. Super friendly, attentive. Food was amazing and catered effortlessly for vegan needs. Hotel is dog friendly and when I say dog friendly I mean they actually had doggy biscuits in the room for the dogs and left a note for them too.

Excellent location overlooking the very epic lake Vyrnwy. The hotel itself felt quite old school (not a bad thing) with a drawing room and a carpeted bar, complete with mahogany furniture. However there was also an onsite tavern, where you could go for drinks in a more relaxed environment. We also tried the spa, which was pretty good for £10 for two hours. We had a dog with us which worked out well, you just couldn't take dogs into the restaurant, drawing room or bar but dogs were allowed in the tavern.
