It was a pleasure to stay in this magnificent, stately home set in glorious, spacious grounds. Our room was beautifully appointed with a view of green pasture. Our hosts Harry and Nicola were absolutely delightful and very welcoming.

We loved our stay at Oak Cottage! The purpose of our stay was to go on walks and hikes and this was placed in the perfect location as you are about 2 minutes from Ysgyryd Fawr and not too far from Sugar Loaf. Pen-Y-Fan is also about a 45mins drive away. You are not far from the main town where you will find supermarkets and cute cafes and there are plenty of spaces to park once there. Oak Cottage was not hard to find and just off the main road, but it was very quiet. You have your own parking space in front of the cottage and the space is only used by one other vehicle.
Everything we needed was provided and I appreciated that there were a lot of hangers in the bedroom and hooks by the front door. There was even enough space in the bedroom to open 2 small suitcases!
I did message to say that we would be in Abergavenny at around 10am and about 3pm, we were told that the cottage was ready for us. We had no problems retrieving the keys from the lockbox and entering the cottage.

Very well equipped, spacious and tastefully furnished. Spotlessly clean with many little extras for our comfort. Quiet location with good access to the town
Food was amazing ! Even a separate vegan menu. The chef really loves cooking, not your standard pub food.
Good location to explore surrounding nature. Quite town with rich mining history.
The staff were welcoming and helpful, the spa was a bonus, great to be able to book a really good massage with Dayna. The food was amazing (the portions were a bit more than I could manage but better that than not enough). Located right in the centre of Blaenavon, easy walking distance of The Ironworks and World heritage centre. Ample parking in private hotel car park
Great location, lovely views, all the facilities would could need. Home from home feeling, lovely decor, feels secure and great to be able to bring our dog with us. Great communication too.
- Great money for value
- Location was very convenient for our outdoor activities at Brecon Beacons.
- Very spacious downstairs, you don’t feel crowded in it.
- Dog friendly and very easy for dogs as there was an outdoor bit.
- The bathroom light was acting up a bit (nothing major) and host replied to our message within 15min and offered to change the bulb the next day (it didn’t bother us too much so we declined).
- TV had several streaming service app already downloaded - some you had to use your login others already logged in!
