We have stayed at Bajo la Cruz del Sur and for us this place was all about the excellent and dedicated host, Ximena. The accommodations have been already reviewed few times and we leave that part to the other travellers. The local knowledge and the excellent recommendations by Ximena about the places to visit while staying in the area made a unique experience during what is our fourth trip to Patagonia. While the most famous hike in the area is sendero Sierra Nevada, we also suggest you not to miss the recommended short hike La Garganta del brujo. It is a short hike in a beautiful, unique setting and you really feel you are in a remote corner of Chile.

Quiet rural location set back from main road, yet in easy walking distance into town. Unique, hand-built lodge with rustic but adequate small rooms, clean and basic. Kind owners spoke very little English but were helpful and responsive. Packed ua a very generous lunch and charged little for the favor. Met interesting Chilean and European guests who shared suggestions for exploring the beautiful surrounding area. A very authentic experience.
The owner Jorge was really helpful even though my Spanish was poor and he didn't speak a lot of English. . It was the first cabana we stayed in in Chile so it is difficult to judge the comfort level. It seemed fine. The washing machine was really useful. The location close to Conguillio national park was great.
We loved everything about the Piñon House: comfortable, quiet, very well appointed and the fun dogs. Needless to say, Philippe & Lisbet are kind, helpful and very engaging.
A fabulous place - very nicely decorated, cozy and beautiful inside (better than the pictures can show). Very nice bed. Carmen, our hostess, was absolutely amazing and helpful, really going out of her way to make our stay there as pleasant and comfortable as possible. Nice location a bit out of town so very peaceful and especially nice to sit by the river and relax. Would have loved to spend more time there!
I enjoyed my stay very, very much. The hut is located in a place with absolute tranquility, yet there is a restaurant nearby with very friendly staff (and great food) who will help you if you need something. The host is super nice, available when needed yet unobtrusive. Clear recommendation!!
Cabin contained everything we needed to self cater. Location was beautiful next to the river and only 8 minutes drive to town. Ximina our host was extremely helpful providing advice on activities to do and shared her knowledge of the area. She was very welcoming and also spoke English which was great as my Spanish is very poor.
