A/C available at an additional cost but we didn’t need it as the area was cool enough and the fan in the room was more than enough. Out host cooked up a delicious dinner and breakfast, sorted us some bicycles for cycling around the ancient city. He arranged for us a fantastic guide to take us around Polonnaruwa and we learned so much. I would highly recommend staying here.

The location is THE BEST you could ever imagine. Right at the edge of a national park with view onto a lake you see lots of macaques and langurs, birds, mongooses and with a bit of luck elephants roaming around, sometimes they come very close and are just 2 few meters away. No worries there is security fence as you know it from national park areas inbetween. The cabins, very exclusively as there are only 2 available, are perfectly equipped, spotless clean, airtight - so no bugs will bother you as long as you exercise common sense to keep doors closed and come with very good working air-conditioning. You have a nice cozy seating area/porch attached to watch the animals while you are enjoying meals or ice-cold drinks. Bringing your binoculars to view animals further away is recommended. Sanka is THE BEST host you could ever imagine, very warm welcoming and always smiling, and very attentive. He is always available, happy to serve you his delicious food and ice-cold drinks to your room, everything for very reasonable prices. He helps to arrange safaris for you, provides amazing advise on sightseeing, loves to exchange experiences with his guests. He is such a lovely person, himself still very excited about the wildlife, it was hard to leave this place. Ensure to reserve ahead as this place has only 2 cabins and is of course very popular. Best place to stay in Polonnaruwa according to me. The house is in the nature and very close to the temples. We had great discussions about the country and got to learn more about Sri Lankan. Our host made us an amazing rice and curry and we went on a night walk to see wild animals. We have been able to rent great bikes to visite the temples. I really recommend!

Everything was great at this hotel.. amazing staff that is friendly and makes customers feel welcome. The pool was perfect after a long day sightseeing. Breakfast in the morning was fantastic. One of the best places we have stayed in Sri Lanka.

New Haven Polonnaruwa has been, by far, the best guesthouse I've been in my whole trip. The place is brand new, extremely comfortable and clean. It is also decorated with good taste. The exterior area, still under construction, is spaceous, and has a lot of possibilities. It has a traditional kitchen built in clay, and an area to have breakfast/lunch/dinner very cozy and nice. Congratulations to the chef! Food is so good! The owner, Iran, puts a lot of love on the project. Also he has shown me his amazing paddy field, we've collected coconuts together and do not worry if the place doesn't have a swimming pool (yet), because he took me to a canal for a nice swim very near from the place.
