Clean, large rooms and friendly staff made this stay perfect. The onsen is fabulous.

Open from September 2019, only 150 metres from JR Hakata Train Station, Miyako Hotel Hakata offers stylish rooms with a flat-screen TV and a private bathroom. Free WiFi is available throughout the property. The famous Nanzoin Temple is a 30-minute train ride away. The room was new and spacious. I liked the bathroom layout, double sinks which was very rare and separate toilet space and bathroom. Very convenient location so close to Hakata station.

This is a new hotel and I was concerned about the lack of cafe / restaurant but I shouldn’t have been. Plenty of places to eat in town and the open, bright dining / kitchen area was a delight. Modern, new and clean.

This modern ryokan style hotel exceeded our expectations and I wish we stayed here for more than one night! The private baths were a highlight of the experience and were very popular with all guests. You can't reserve them, so you have to wait patiently near the chairs next to the bath you want to try. In our experience most people didn't bathe for longer than 20–30 minutes, so the wait was never too long. Make sure you know which bath you want before you get there. Outside the baths are some massage chairs and a nice lounge with a beautiful view of the city. Enjoy a free ice cream while you cool down after bath time. They also give a free bowl of noodles around 9pm to all hotel guests, which was a pleasant surprise and a night treat.

The owner is super cool and likes to engage with his guests. He showed me and other guests how to make (cook) a local specialty and played a card game. I had a blast. The owner is also a fan of anime and Pokémon, he decorated entire rooms with posters/ Pokémon cards. If you are interested in that, you can even buy Pokémon cards from him. The shared sleep space is also comfortable.
