They have everything you need inside the room: small refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker (or you can just boil water in that thing), coffee bags, shampoo, hair conditioner and even a body lotion. The hotel was in the new nicest area of Birmingham, away from the city centre which is very unwelcoming and to be avoided other than to visit the civil rights institute and little else. There is a very nice shopping mall near the property (a few minutes by car) with good restaurants and shops (and it is safer than Birmingham, which isn't).
