Casa das Pedras Country Retreat, hotel in Santo António das Areias

Located in Santo António das Areias, in a historic building, 5.5 km from Marvao Castle, Casa das Pedras Country Retreat is a recently renovated bed and breakfast with a seasonal outdoor swimming pool...

We had such a lovely stay in this beautiful apartment. Marcia was a welcoming and friendly hostess who made us feel right at home. The apartment is lovely, with a comfortable bed, luxurious bathroom and well-equipped mini kitchen. The fan kept us cool even in 35 degree heat. The house is set in an olive grove with a lovely splash pool, a hammock and seating area, where it was wonderful to relax and watch the chickens wander. The peace and tranquility was wonderful. There was a generous supply of breakfast items in the fridge, and Marcia provided us with delicious scrambled eggs. Marvao castle was just a ten-minute drive, and there's a huge municipal pool at Portagem, also ten minutes away.

Although it's discreet from the road, the house is easy enough to find. It's when Márcia leads you through the parking space that the magic happens. The rooms are amazing and the hosts are top notch. They are foreigners themselves, but they really know about local stuff and they are as welcoming as one can be. To me, the cherry on top, was enjoying an awesome wine bottle outside, at night, with the quietness and the stars above.
