Hubby & I made a last-minute decision to stay at Mels Retreat, we loved our time together in such a magical spot, we didn't realize how busy we had been until we stopped for "Air" at Mels. Everything was thought of, personal touches & gifts, "no-one really does well" anymore... but she did. The location is epic, and the amenities were amazing. The Spa and Sauna are game changers. The place felt roomy, clean, and nice. Comfortable bed. Convenient parking. Good service from the reception office. Close to Waitomo Caves (about 15 minutes).
The hotel was accommodate my last-minute booking. Parking was free and directly in front of my room. The rooms were massive and could easily accommodate a family of four. The kitchenette and dining table were nice to have, and the jacuzzi tub was very clean.
The reception area smelt amazing - to the Hosts I would recommend making the yummy food available to guests. I felt secure parking my brand new mustang onsite and the pillows were amazing
