A beautifully presented and decorated annex. It has a large, well equipped shower room and a small equally equipped kitchen area. There is secure parking in front of the property. Miranda, our host, was lovely and very helpful providing a fresh, delicious breakfast.

Firstly, the staff. They were all super nice. But, specifically, I recently (well, 4 months ago)broke my femur so have been walking with a 4 wheeled walker until I regain my balance. They put me in a superb room with an accessible wet room. Secondly, I have been learning nederlands for an embarrassing amount of time. And, nederlanders do reply in nederlands to me now, but I'm not fluent. And, the staff, without a thought all went super nederlands. To me, personally, it means loads. And did my confidence the world of good.
Lastly, for a hotel priced in the more reasonable bracket, this hotel is superb. Assen was also a surprise to me. I have been to many staden in Nederland, and this is now one of my favourites.
Van der Valk Hotel Assen is a 4-star hotel, set just off the A28 highway to Groningen. It is located at the edge of the Baggelhuizerplas and at a distance of 2.5 km from Assen.
Hotel Karsten offers a heated terrace and free Wi-Fi in the countryside town of Norg, a short drive from the A28. The area offers charming bike paths and walking routes.

The deluxe apartment was spacious, clean, a good starting point for trips to the coast and inland. Good breakfast in a nice room, the staf was very friendly and helpful.

Very quiet place, free parking next to the facility, exelent bed, nice restaurant. If you play golf, it must be heaven.
