We decided to go from Polonnaruwa to Maskeliya by bus last moment and Ambepussa was a convenient layover point. We were to arrive there by 00:00. Wijaya Tourist Inn was the only place with the convenient location on booking.com and their check in closed at 22:00. Since I booked last moment I called the contact number and the hotel owner confirmed that they could reopen and let us in the room at 12. My bus then was 2h late but the owner was incredibly helpful and nice and when I arrived at ~12:40 he sent me the map how to get to the hotel and the manager stayed in the hotel 3h after the check in closed until we arrived and kindly let us in. Value for money is great and I was amazed at the staff helpfulness and hospitality!

We decided to stop in at the Golden Residence to break up our trip to Kandy. The owner was great and very accomodating. Our rooms were very large and spotless and the tour of the hotel gardens was fun. We had to leave early and the had a huge and tasty breakfast spread ready to go for us.
