At first I thought for the price I got, it would be very basic and since it included both kaiseki dinner and breakfast, I could not see how it could be beyond my expectations given the price I paid (with my three travel mates). I was proven wrong - all services, from the front door all the way till the end was excellent. The dinner and breakfast were glorious, the private bath was great (yes it is included), and we even had a pass for free public bath use around Kinosaki Onsen areas. As a bonus, the inn itself is like a mini art museum (check it out, it has to do with the past owner).
Newly renovated in 2022, Kobayashiya -Kinosaki Onsen- blends the history and tradition of Japan with the modernity. Guests are welcomed by a luxurious new lobby, decorated in earthen wall.

Located right beside the river in the center of Kinosaki Onsen, this beautiful hotel combines the traditional style of Japanese ryokans with modern design elements, creating a unique atmosphere. Our room was spacious, well equipped and made us feel welcome immediately.
While the famous public onsens of Kinosaki are just around the corner due to the central location of Kobayashiya, the three private onsen rooms inside the ryokan present an ideal opportunity to start the day in a relaxing fashion or simply enjoy some privacy in between.
The Kaiseki (dinner menu) and breakfast were included in our stay and we would highly recommend adding the option. The dishes were carefully prepared with fresh, local ingredients (especially the fish and seafood) and present the perfect opportunity to experience and savor traditional, Japanese cuisine. It was definitely a highlight of our trip to Japan.
We would especially like to highlight the service provided during our stay. From the moment you arrive, everything is being taken care of, from providing the complimentary Yukatas and assisting you in dressing appropriately, taking the time to introduce and explain to you the dinner and breakfast menus, explaining everything about Kinosaki and its onsen culture or simply taking care of your room. You can simply relax and enjoy yourself.
A 5-minute walk from the Kinosaki Onsen Ropeway, Japanese inn 城崎温泉 但馬屋-Tajimaya- features luxurious accommodation and cuisine, hot spring baths and free Wi-Fi throughout the property.

The Japanese style rooms were beautiful. We were afraid that the Japanese beds (Futon) would be too hard cause we sleep on our sides, but the futons were very soft and we slept very good.
The person who helped us spoke very good english so no language barriers.
The food was exceptional and calculated into the hotelprice, Michelin star restaurant level (I have restaurant experience). I would recommend this place for the food alone.
The private baths were always available when we asked for it so no problems there.
You get a free pass to all public baths and yukata and wooden sandals.
It is right next to goshinoyu which is in my opinion the best and most beautiful of the public baths.
Onishiya Suisyouen offers beautiful hot-spring baths, a sauna and Japanese garden beside the Maruyama River.

The meals are absolutely spectacular and almost overwhelming with how much you get. If you want a taste of really authentic Japanese dishes you won't typically find outside of Japan, you can definitely get that here. The staff are all kind and attentive and the shuttle service is really useful (though the hotel is only a 10 minute, very pretty and peaceful, walk to town). It was a lot of fun walking around in yukata and the town has lots of great shops for eating and shopping.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Fairfield by Marriot Hyogo Kannabe Highland. The room was meticulously clean and quite spacious too. We liked how they are tucked away from the cities so that we get to enjoy local sites and eateries. We especially enjoyed fresh bread from Pain de A in the morning.

There was no parking area in/near the hotel. The staff helped us to park at an area rather far away when we reached hence we were confused and very concerned. It was stated in the website that parking was available. When we wanted to drive out the same night we arrived, the staff fetched us to the car park where our car was. We were relieved thereafter - and happy with the transport service offered to and from the car park area.
1. They have a free car park space onsite.
2. They provide free shuttle bus that runs from 4 pm to 10pm to take guests/pick up to/from the town centre where all the public onsens and shops located.
3. The hotel has its own private onsen. After trying both the hotel's and one of the public onsens, I like the hotel's onsen better as it was not crowded as the public one.
4. The breakfast they served was good. We quite enjoyed it.
5. Friendly staff
6. Lovely Ryokan
The staff were helpful and were waiting for us to arrive. They immediately came out to help with bags and car parking.
The room was very spacious and a unique experience for us.
Also the location was perfect being in the center of Kinosaki.
The only negative I would say was my friends snoring, but I guess that means they were sleeping well. :D
Host very kind and helpful, communication in English was no problem. Parking was ensured for our car next to the location, we could use the parking lot even after our check-out. Green tea is offered. Perfect location to enjoy the onsens.
Friendly staff greeted us warmly when we arrived. Treated us like family. Room was huge and well decorated. Clean facilities and exceptional service. We were escorted to the parking lot by car and also sent us there when we checked out. Warm personal attention given to us. Staff spoke very little English but were patient and understood us (Hint: Google Translate). We will return.
