This is a great place to stay at. Ainokura is way more quiet and authentic compared to the touristy Shirakawa. The owners are a super friendly family. The dinner and breakfast is very delicious and traditionally Japanese, something you just have to try. The room was stayed in was spacious and comfy.

Absolutely beautiful. Every room was exquisite. Our hosts went out of their way to help us with ideas of where to visit and what to do. We had wonderful experiences: sounding the gong for morning temple; touring the temple buildings; making prayer bead bracelets; tasting food made with incredible care and expertise both in Morito-Sha and in the tiny local sushi restaurant. Everything was just lovely. Can’t recommend more.

A very peaceful stay here. Large rooms and the onsen is very relaxing! The breakfast is very good too! There's even a large sunflower field just at the parking lot area of the hotel. But not sure if the sunflower field be there next year.

Great location for those wishing to see the Gassho farmhouses off the beaten path. Welcoming staff and a little show for tourist on certain nights. Price included two wonderful meals in common area with other guests - two seating options for both breakfast and dinner. Enjoyed the outdoor onsen and parking was very convenient.
Large ryokan, close to ainokura. We had dinner and breakfast, which were good. Large free parking. Rooms are spacious. Onsen with inside and outside baths and beautiful views of the mountains. Very quiet
Authentic Japanese thatched room house over 300 yr history with Japanese style open-hearth dinning room. Futon beds on tatami floor. Bathrooms are clean but shared and fortunately fitted with modern “Toto” sanitary automatic sensor seats toilets.
The landlady and family stays upstairs and we have the whole lower ground to ourselves.
Food served is home made and delicious
