My 5 friends and I stayed at The Retreat Place for 3 nights at the end of December and had a great time! The hosts were super accomodating and enthusiastic - they gave us great recommendations for things to do and even drove us to the ski slopes so we didn't have to get a taxi. The Retreat Place itself has a warm, welcoming vibe, and the food provided to us there (nabe dinner and continental breakfasts) was nourishing and lovingly made. I particularly loved the communal lounge room on the ground floor - warm and toasty, and a great place to chat with the hosts and relax after a day exploring. I would definitely recommend The Retreat Place to anyone wanted to explore the Bandai/Aizu/Lake Inawashiro area. I'd also recommend checking out their instagram if you want more info!

Mooi House is a traditional Japanese house with modern amenities which was a great experience. The accommodation is very spacious and clean. Asa, the owner, cleaned the property and replaced the towels every few days. Asa is very friendly and is quick to respond to questions via the Booking app. He must live nearby as he came round quickly to help when asked. Asa speaks good English which was very helpful.

The property it is incredibly clean and well maintained in its fantastic traditional structure. The hosts are super friendly and sweet. Although their main language it is not English they do their best to fully communicate with you. You book your time for breakfast, dinner and the bath( which is private to you and your party). The room was very cool and super comfortable. The food was delicious and it felt like a feast all the time. I couldn’t recommend it more.
