The pictures don't do the place justice! This is a lovely apartment with gorgeous ocean views and luxurious amenities (It had everything we needed for our stay and more). We'd booked the studio apt but Athina gave us a free upgrade to the one bed apartment which was very kind of her. The best part of the stay was that Athina brought us delicious home cooked Corfiot food. It truly felt like home away from home (if home is luxurious sea view apartment!). I stayed at a 4 star resort after my stay with Athina, and this stay beat that by a longshot! I appreciate Athina for making our stay in Corfu special!

Our whole 3-night experience at this hotel was excellent - the welcome on arrival, the room, the poolside facilities, the breakfast, the ease of parking, the very close proximity to the village centre and the sea.....we could go on! There is ice-cold Mythos beer on draught at the poolside bar too. We must also mention the family-run sister restaurant - The Boukari Beach Seafood Taverna - where the food on offer in a magical setting next to the sea will always be remembered by us. It may be a 700-metre or so walk from the hotel, but well worth it. But, the biggest pleasure came from meeting the owner of Hotel Penelope, Kostas, and his family team. There is a real home-from-home appeal at this small, friendly hotel and we fully recommend it.

Ampelaki is set in a most tranquil spot, and we never tired of the wonderful view or the sound of the sea. The owners were lovely, very welcoming, and we enjoyed talking to them - in a mixture of laughter and sign language! - as we were coming and going from the apartment. There are good tavernas nearby, including the excellent Kalami. We hope to return.
