The vast expanse of the crystal calm waters near the hotel are a refuge for flamingos, herons, storks, pelicans, and of course pheasants who actually have there their only natural habitat in Europe. The owners of the hotel are knowledgeable and well-informed about environmental issues of the area. We followed their very useful guidance and made the most of our stay by the sea in Porto Lagos.

Supermarket nearby, but anyway the village is very small. There is a beach next to the port but the nice Fanari beach is 5mins by car.

Very clean and modern room, with a comfortable bed, terrace facing the port and well-equipped kitchen with nice breakfast included! The town of Fanari is quaint and beautifully located, with amazing sites located at a short driving distance. We came in the winter and were amazed by the natural beauty of the Rhodope mountains in the distance, the strips of land with the sea on one side and the lagoons on the other, and especially the flamingos grazing in the lagoons. The proximity of the beautiful monastery of Agios Nikolaos is another merit of the location. We hope to come to Nero again in warmer weather so we can swim in the sea and make the most of the amazing local beaches!
