The villa was great, but what truly exceeded our expectations was the service and forthcoming of our host. We probably weren’t the easiest guests that they’ve had, since we asked to change the villas (we wanted a bigger space outside, because we have a 3-year old), but they obliged with no questions asked. And that was truly something that in all of our travels, we have rarely experienced to that extent. The villa was great, new, modern. If you’re travelling with children, book Iraklis 2. It has a bigger space outside and a green patch of grass. A great spot where the kids can play. Ask the owners for dining suggestions. We tried everyone they suggested, and liked mostly all of them, except one place. There is a village (Plakias) near by. The views are great, the food’s good, very good pricing if you compare to other major Crete cities. The only thing you will need if you stay at Iraklis is a car. You can of course use taxi services, I did see some of them driving around the area. Be sure to visit Preveli beach. That was the highlight of our vacation in Crete.
