A wonderful place to stay as long as you don't mind driving. It was semi centrally located to most sites you may want to visit while in Orkney. The staff was excellent and extremely helpful. Breakfast was delicious and prepared to order. The restaurant offered a nice variety of meals for dinner as well as beer, wine, and cocktails. The tv room/lounge was always available if you wanted somewhere to unwind. The staff was also kind enough to allow me to stay there a couple of hours after checkout while awaiting my ferry. I highly recommend this hotel.

The Merkister Hotel is located on Loch Harray a beautiful and serene setting. It was also an easy car ride to sites such as Skara Brae and about a 20 minute drive to Kirkwall. The staff were all very pleasant and we enjoyed excellent breakfasts and dinners in the Skerries Restaurant.
