Sally was a wonderful host. The breakfasts were something we looked forward to each morning, with berries picked fresh from her garden and fresh eggs from her hens. The rooms were clean and comfortable and the views out every window were extraordinary.

The lodge was spacious and very comfortable with all I needed for a getaway. The terrace looked onto fields with a spectacular view of the ruined castle. Plenty of wildlife to see and hear. No tv or internet ensured a real break away from it all. There’s a pub and store five minutes away and the locals are friendly. York is a short drive away. Fantastic.

We thoroughly enjoyed our four-day, three-night stay at the accommodation. It was impeccably clean, beautifully presented, and exuded a cozy atmosphere. We especially appreciate the gracious hosts who not only provided us with a tour of the castle ruins but also left a delightful cake and some sweet treats for us to enjoy during our stay.
