Lugger Hotel ‘A Bespoke Hotel’ is a unique 17th-century inn, idyllic escape right on the water’s edge, in the fishing village of Portloe on the Roseland Peninsula. Its 2 AA-Rosette awarded restaurant with sunny terrace overlooks the harbour and serves fresh seafood and local produce.

Relaxed place and surrounded by hills and only accessible via narrow roads so ‘tourists’ are seldom. Beautiful nature just outside the door/ window, and a picturesque harbour. Very friendly staff. Delicious food options offered too. From breakfast to dinner.

Gorgeous view, comfortable bed, excellent breakfast options. Fizzy water and milk in the fridge, some fruit in a bowl… all good. Good car parking, but on a first come first served basis, so a bit of a worry - would be better to let you book a space when you book a room.

The location is the highest attraction, without any doubt. The hotel is a nice traditional cottage building and has fantastic views from the restaurant. Parking just around the corner, which is very comfortable.

Lovely view of quiet cove, great walks. Friendly staff, good facilities. As it was my birthday, a message was written on the plate at the end, nice touch. Plenty of free parking for hotel guests.

It was the perfect location - very peaceful which is what we were looking for. The staff where extremely friendly and accommodating. The food was exceptional. Parking was easy despite it being a tiny little cove and there were lovely walks around the headland on both sides. A fridge in the room was a nice touch which meant we could be a little bit independent - there are no shops in the village so storing a few of your own bits is easy.

Excellent service from courteous helpful staff, very good breakfast with good choices. Dinner also good particularly if you like fish more difficult if like my wife you are not a fish lover and you are there for several nights (6 in our case). We were in a cottage and enjoyed the space available. Parking less problematic than I was expecting.

The Lugger is in a wonderful location, right on the sea, with fabulous views from the restaurant and terrace, and immediate access to the coast path so you feel you do not need your car if you want to go walking. The food on the second night was very good, especially the mackerel. The hotel was a great place to take a dog, with external access to rooms from the car park to avoid traipsing her through the halls each time I took her out. Again, that second night also had some wonderful waiting staff who were quietly attentive and considerate.

This is the third time we have stayed and it is always wonderfully relaxing. Dinners were absolutely top class and the staff were friendly and helpful. The only downside is the very compact car park which was stressful until we discovered the alternative up the road. The hotel itself is unpretentious but with very high standards.

The location, although parking is limited and spaces barely big enough to get out of your car.
