The room is amazingly comfortable, with a small fridge containing fresh milk. The beds were very comfortable indeed and every, shower was excellent and everything was spotlessly clean. The owner is doing a superb job of upgrading her accommodation.

Everything was fantastic, from our living wagon the bed, our facilities, the scenery, the hot tub, to our idyllic stay. Annabelle, our host was lovely and so welcoming. Appleby Manor Hotel & Garden Spa, hotel in Knock

Set in Eden Valley, the 19th century Appleby Manor Country House Hotel features an AA rosette winning restaurant which serves fresh, local produce.

My partner and I recently stayed at a hotel, having reserved a standard room through booking.com. The confirmation email mentioned that we would be accommodated in the main building or the annexe. Had we known that we would be placed in a separate building at the back, we would not have booked in the first place. I disagree that the conditions in both the main building and the annexe are the same. Firstly, there is no heated connection to the main building. Secondly, the room was small and basic. The pictures are not worth considering, as they differ from reality. The breakfast did not include espresso. If you desire espresso, there is an additional charge of £4.50 at the bar. While I appreciated that the set menu breakfast was served warm and freshly prepared, we both would have preferred the option to select from a buffet, which is a common practice at many 4-star hotels we have visited. The highlight of the hotel was the spa centre and the delightful staff. The various amenities were modern and clean, and the staff was very courteous and friendly. We enjoyed it. However, after spending a few beautiful hours in the spa, we had to cross the entire hotel with wet hair, run through the rain, and climb the stairs to reach our room in the annexe. It left us feeling like poor relatives hidden away in the backyard, distanced from everyone else. The location was excellent, but the noise from the nearby main road was unpleasant. The main building boasts a lovely view, yet it was not visible from our room. In conclusion, this hotel's offerings fall below the average for 4-star hotels. We wouldn't recommend it and won't visit it again.

The location was perfect and the village pub was lovely to sit and have a drink! The cottage its self had everything in that you could possibly need, a very well equipt kitchen, and a lovely court yard! The couple in the cottage next door were friendly and the off road parking was an added bonus! Very lovely little touches such as a box of chocolates on arrival, and a kitchen pack containing washing up liquid, dishwasher tablets, a sponge, etc. We would return.
